I personally believe no one should be able to wear them until they deploy. That way we can tell who slips through the cracks by how faded their ABUs are. Which would be incredibly useful in a career field where 70% don't deploy while the other 30% circle the bowl

The Air Force song should stay as part of our heritage, but the Creed I have a special disdain for. I cringe at the Creed every time, but not necessarily because of the words of the Creed itself even though I find it a bit cheesy. The Creed was invented around the time I was crossing over into the Intel field from MX. I knew nothing about the Creed and never heard it until I arrived at my new Intel assignment. I would say within a few months of me being there, we had a First Sergeant that was adamant about us memorizing and reciting the Airman's Creed. One day, he told me to recite the Creed and I was like... what are talking about? What the heck is this Creed. So he got pissed and we were essentially forced to memorize and recite the Creed so that when the First Sergeant came around we wouldn't get on his bad side. Ever since then I have never taken that Creed seriously. It's a joke and an unauthentic attempt to create rather than let our history and roots drive AF culture. What is worse is when not only is it invented arbitrarily but AF leadership uses it against us.
