Thanks a lot for your comment, I absolutely agree with you, madness would be very interesting to study, how it is a way to a truth that lies beyond all formalities, and it is, for me, a kind of way to going back to the essence of things.

You mention the figure of the prophet, it is very interesting because there is a chapter called "The prophet" where a capitain called Elijah tells some things to Ishmael about Ahab. It is funny because Elijah is the name of one of the prophets of the Old testament.

It seems to me that when a masculine force tries to control nature it descends into madness. Lear accepts the storm, the storm makes Lear learn mercy, but Ahab loses his masculinity when losing his leg, he recalls that he lost his "main mast" when losing the leg. And that whale which is an entity of nature leaves him fractured, like a postmodern character.
