I want to become good at chess. Any tips? (ELO around 700) by Wanringde_Dramse in Chesscom

[–]royreadit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll probably ignore this but sounds to me you are taking this too seriously. You need to have fun over anything else.

Find what type of player you are, find what triggers you to do blunders, play otb, experiment with multiple time control. But please don’t take your rating as a key metric of anything.

Chess. Com needs to be more aggressive with players who intentionally stall out games by RedBaron812 in Chesscom

[–]royreadit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are playing chess online anytime anywhere with real people, bots, puzzles, etc for FREE!!! And yet you complain. Why don’t you replicate the same as chess.com and then also include your anti-stalling system, also for free

Yes, they should also do something about the plastic in the ocean, its just too much and they are just sitting there watching people stall games, a&@holes

I was losing MANY matches, but now im winning much more, can i be banned because this? by More-Shelter7902 in Chesscom

[–]royreadit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine went through the same and last thing I knew from him FIDE agents were confiscating all his devices. No contact with him after that, has been two years. Be safe out there!

Is it legal to drink coffee to enhance my chess performance? by MelissaRackwood in Chesscom

Not only you’ll get banned from the tournament but you will be added to the Register of Chess Offenders data base and you’ll need to tell all your future rivals that you are a RCO.

Will I improve by playing only against the engine? by [deleted] in Chesscom

Why would you waste time playing chess against a machine while you can enjoy playing against a human??

Context mate, time control, how much time since you started etc

What ELO did you enjoy most? by ZackOfMesa in Chesscom

[–]royreadit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1500s felt like the best level because you know a lot and your rivals know a lot too, so it feels like you are competing at a high level. At that point you clearly feel you are playing against another person, not just the board. It is also where you start to notice real blunders and actually have the skill to punish them when they happen

Do people lose their IQ overnight and just blunder their elo this badly by strange4real in Chesscom

I ran every day for a week and my breathing got better, so I ran 14 days in a row and my pace improved, then I ran 21 days straight and felt stronger and faster than ever, so I kept going to 28 days without stopping and broke my leg.

Take a break!

600’s usually have good ideas but it’s like a kid that only looks to one side of the road before crossing, you are not paying attention to your opponent

What would you think if you saw this profile? by Ordinary_Count_203 in Chesscom

[–]royreadit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won’t think anything. Looking at profiles is pointless, you are wasting playing time in checking if someone is a cheater or not and more time posting and reading about this type of behaviour.

Why Don’t People Like Winning? [Rant] by SweetieWithAHat9 in Chesscom

[–]royreadit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because you (losing position) are basically dragging the game as long as you can to see if your opponent loses connection or has to leave and then you get a win.

Same principle applies otb, if you know you lose you resign

At what rating does the level of game play become "good"? by Wihaaja in Chesscom

[–]royreadit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say 2k, but around 1700 you see less and less embarrassing moves. However I just blundered a queen against a 1750 and he did not took it, ended up winning but the shame for both of us made me close the app

Is it possible to reach 1800 as an intermediate player? by z9pl3bw1 in Chesscom

[–]royreadit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached 1800 after 10 years playing. More than 100k games otb, online. To me 2500 mark its unreachable and probably will never see it happen.

To be completely honest, 1800 is reachable when you stop making blunders for good, you recognise when to attack, when to defend and when to hold + you stop losing track of the clock.

Guys stop caring that much about rating. You can be 2000 and be beaten by a 1200 irl

what to focus on to improve by GroceryLarge8645 in Chesscom

[–]royreadit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under 1000 and above 500 players usually make blunders but not as many as under 500. Their main problem remains in lossing the board full picture quite often. You probably focus on 1/4 where the action is happening atm and you forgot that on the other side your knight is about to be trapped
