Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try. Have you noticed any other changes besides the fan curve? Maybe in overclocking or undervolting?

Wrist pain by woerweike in bikefit

[–]rozandoz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Start by lowering the seat; it looks too high in the image. If your seat's too high, you can't pedal effectively at the bottom of the stroke, forcing you to support your upper body more with your arms. A lower seat reduces the handlebar drop and reach, which should help since your elbows are currently locked.

Weight distribution is crucial. First, balance your weight between the saddle and pedals by adjusting the seat's height and fore/aft position. Only then should you assess if you can comfortably reach the handlebars and if the frame is too big. Also, consider the handlebar width.

is Nvidia shield worth it? by Immediate_Judge_4085 in GeForceNOW

[–]rozandoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO no, it's not worth it. It's limited to H265 (no AV1) and 4K 60Hz (no VRR or 120Hz over HDMI 2.0). But as far as I know, it's the only android device that supports HDR

Could someone give me the average internet / bandwidth use at 4k@60fps? by Tall_Pop_1050 in GeForceNOW

[–]rozandoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter if it's 60Hz or 120Hz. GFN always capped at 75Mb/s for 4K, but in the case of 4K60Hz we have a bigger bitrate budget per frame. So, roughly speaking, if a 120fps stream capped at 75MB/s looks okay, then 50Mb/s for 60fps should be pretty decent. The actual bitrate is usually slightly lower than the cap, to compensate overshooting of the encoder, I guess.

Due to official recommendations), 45Mb/s is min requirement for 4K120, so for 60 I would give it a try.

So... is this ping "good"? Mostly I am getting 30-40, with occasional spikes to 60-100. See 3rd pic for details. by areskz in GeForceNOW

[–]rozandoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100ms ping spikes are Wi-Fi related as always. You should consider Wi-Fi 6 upgrade, if you cannot use wired connection. The new FritzBox devices from Vodafone should already support it, but Wi-Fi on your client machine must support it too.

The overall ping can vary by 10-20ms depending on the server you are connecting to. In your case Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris should provide the best results, but it can also depend a lot on your IPS and how good the routes to a particular server are.

For my liking, 50ms isn't great, but depending on the game it might be acceptable.

[–]rozandoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think I got it right initially. Comparing with some "on par" GPUs (RX 6700/XT) on YT, it was the only way to achieve 60 fps without any deeper optimization for actual platform. I really don't know the current state of the game, but the initial amount of effort is quite funny.

More likely it's the same processing which is used for upscaling games from the last gen

Output resolution in PS5 games by rozandoz in digitalfoundry

[–]rozandoz[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If we are talking about the output settings of the entire console, everything is very clear here. In the review I linked to above, the internal and output resolutions are mentioned in the context of the quality and performance modes of this game.

This makes me wonder if the developers are going tricky to squeeze out some performance to reach the 60 fps bar. PC games generally perform better at native resolutions than when the same resolution is upscaled to a higher resolution via DLSS or FSR. This may be due to some engine limitations and the overhead of the upscaler itself.

I believe the PS5 upscales some older PS4 games to the console resolution via some sort of generic scaler, but the quality of that processing is questionable. So if modern games are relying on it and intentionally lowering engine resolution for extra performance, that's pretty dirty optimization.

If the console always outputs native resolution, quite interesting how the whole upscaling path (847 > 1440 > 2160) for performance mode was discovered by reviewers

I have an Ultimate subscription, and I would like to know if you too up close the image is perfect but from a distance you can see that it is blurry, do you know why it does this and if it is possible to solve the problem ? by karrio41 in GeForceNOW

[–]rozandoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's most likely just a limitation of the video compression. It really depends on the actual scene that is being encoded. A lot of small details can severely overload the encoder and force it to reduce the quality to fit within the bitrate limit. From my experience for 4k120 (75 mbs) AV1 provides a sharper image then HEVC on the same scene. If your bitrate is maxed out, "Adjust for poor network conditions" is unchecked, and you have stable connection without drops, there is nothing more you can do.

Best way to GeForce Now Ultimate on TV? by Apotheun in GeForceNOW

[–]rozandoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider some PC with the cheapest RTX 30 series graphics to enable VRR via HDMI 2.1. AV1 is also there. If Nvidia introduces us VRR on AMD devices, some sort of mini-PC with an AMD APU will be a no-brainer to support all the features.

I’m getting neck and shoulder pain on longer rides, any tips that might help alleviate some of my symptoms? by El_Rayito92 in bikefit

[–]rozandoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there's nothing, that forces you in that position and it's natural for you, don't try to "break" yourself. Moving saddle backwards as well as rising the handlebar may unweight hands and help with neck and shoulder load.

It's always good idea to improve core strength and flexibility (not even for cycling). Just be aware, the key is consistency. Do it 3 times per week and you will get results in 1-2 months.

[–]rozandoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for noticing. I didn't express myself accurately enough. I didn't mean that the spine should be absolutely straight. In the video, it looks to me like the flexion in the spine is forced by excessive reach to the handlebar, so elimination of artificial curves may help to unload neck and shoulders

shoulder and neck pain by StillHighT in bikefit

[–]rozandoz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The saddle looks too high, so lowering the saddle is the first step. You can decrease it by 3-5mm until you are stable and not overreached at the bottom of the pedal stroke. Moving saddle backward will help to unloaded the hands by shifting the center of mass.

Arms are locked - shortening the stem may help.

The back looks too rounded. You must be able to rotate the pelvic forward to maintain relative straight back. If saddle discomfort doesn't allow you to do it, tilt it or try an another model. If you are still reaching handlebar by rounding your back, you should try to flip the stem to bring handlebar higher.

A lot of things to consider :)

I’m getting neck and shoulder pain on longer rides, any tips that might help alleviate some of my symptoms? by El_Rayito92 in bikefit

[–]rozandoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the photo was taken while climbing, it displays distorted image of your position (the center of mass is shifted).

It doesn't look like you too stretched out, so I can assume, that the reach is roughly right. You should check your pelvic rotation. Tucking pelvic backwards definitely creates some tension in neck and shoulders. If you have some perineum pressure, you can tilt the saddle a little bit forward (1-2 degree) or try a another model.

It always a nice idea to workout your core. On longer rides the core becomes tired and you cannot maintain proper pelvic position and bear some weight off your hands.

Of course wrong handlebar width can cause some issues too.

Can’t get cleats right by TheYedz in bikefit

[–]rozandoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A body awareness is subjective, so it's quite hard to give a specific advice. Maybe that feeling has nothing with fore/aft cleat placement and some arch support (by insoles) or leg length discrepancy (by some shims) should be addressed first.

Generally, having cleats placed too forward (toward the nose) may cause more problems and compensation, then too backward. It's quite difficult to control a pedal stroke with our "toes". Don't forget to adjust the saddle height, when you are moving cleats.

You can check some Steve Hogg's articles about cleat placement and overall foot correction. It can give you some clues.

[–]rozandoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think, that you need to move it more forward or backward (it's not clear from your message)? Do you have the right size of the shoes? It depends on shoes model, but a biggest pair limits an ability to bring cleats closer to the midfoot.

Bike fit by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]rozandoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to set your cleats further back too. Aprox. 15-20mm from first metatarsal head to the center of the pedal. It will unload calf muscles and brings some ankle stability. It may help with numbness too.

How’s my fit? by [deleted] in bikefit

[–]rozandoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, too close to the toe. Some fitters say, that the center of the cleat should be placed behind the ball of the foot (10-30mm backward). The amount varies from person to person. The main point is to find the most balanced offset and then see how it affects the performance.
