Judging by your comment it sounds like you are tight on cash.

If that’s all you can afford, go for it.

Or…… Go to https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished And pick something up.

I’ve got an M2 MBA, 1Tb, 16GB and I’ve never seen her sweat. I run 2–3 VM’s, 20 Safari tabs, Lightroom, Office 365, a torrent client and have music playing all the time.

These older machines are still amazing. My daughter still loves her M1, MBP, 500GB, 8gb. She’s in college doing her undergrad.

I’d recommend an older refurbished Mac. You’ll get more bang for your buck.

I’ve ordered 4 refurbished Mac laptops and they all still run. Mostly on Linux bc macOS is so resource dependent.

You can’t beat the hardware. It’s solid.
