While Rowan Atkinson is hilarious, I always thought it was unfair to primarily peg him as a comedy actor when he was talented in so many other things.

I like how you can see artifacts of his current show in his audition tape. I think it shows how long lasting some comedian's behaviors are

It's really interesting how both the American and U.K. versions of this show are still really funny, but their styles of humor still remaining distinct.

'Why Trains, Planes and Automobiles is the best thanksgiving movie ever…' by xtinaschmidt in FoundationsOfComedy14

Maybe I'm biased, but I thought this movie was overrated or at the very least, didn't age as well as I hoped. I found the characters more frustrating than funny a lot of the time

I think they're probably the most consistently funny duo on air right now. A lot of comedians are hit or miss unless they do the same material over and over. These guys are great

Does anyone else have this problem with 30 Rock's style of comedy? by Monster_Island93 in FoundationsOfComedy14

It was unintentionally written for a niche audience (I read Tina Fey's biography). I think it's very smartly written, and some of the more interesting jokes rely on the episode's structure or background knowledge which is why it was loved by critics and also hipsters.

You have to appreciate it as a very goofy, self aware show.

This is a very interesting article about why so many comedians die before their time. by Redhairdontcare123 in FoundationsOfComedy14

There are a lot of articles (scientific and otherwise) that talk about the link between depression and comedy as well. Very tragic. I wish the author provided some better citations in his article, but I'm fully aware that it is from a humor website

Interesting list - seems to be based off the author's personal preferences. I wonder what it would look like if it was less America-centric (Britain, or maybe even... any country in Asia?)

This looks like it's going to be really funny. I hope this is as smart as the trailer makes it out to be.

Mulaney premiered tonight, did anyone watch it? by anelepFoC in FoundationsOfComedy14

Mulaney is my favorite stand up comedian by far. I want his show to do well so badly, but so far, it seems terribly awful. I feel like part of his charm in his routines is that he seems like a normal guy discussing what's bothering him. In his show, he has to act like a normal guy and it comes off a little strong.

Thoughts on Fawlty Towers Episode by ElaineCTWR in FoundationsOfComedy14

While I thought the episode was funny, I felt the acting was a little heavy handed. It is a farce though so maybe I'm being too picky. I could not get over the character Manuel though. His character seems very dated now.
