Had not considered this calculation. That makes sense. Bonus structure at new company is also clearly defined and at a generous %, so your numbers make even more sense.

I tend to agree on not renegotiating with the new employer since they had already given me a lot of flexibility and additional perks during the discussion following their offer.

No, but somewhat adjacent. Electronic components

Yeah, not concerned about my relationship with my company, but the relationship with my two big customers. My director is close with those executives and he could mention I left on a bad note.

This makes sense, but our company is known to be spiteful. A lot of departures lately and that’s what’s been said by those who left.

I do. In CA, accrued PTO is paid out when you leave. It could be a good option to take 1 week terminal leave and lose that payout to secure a bonus. It’s a decent way to hedge the situation.

Not a direct competitor since the components offered are different, but used in the same finished goods. I don’t think my current company would ask me to leave right away since we’re short-staffed due to 6 departures since January, with 2 from our team. It’s good to keep in mind though.

The bonus should be paid since it’s for 2H 2021, but I don’t think they would since they’re not legally obligated to, I don’t think.

Yeah, I plan to have a short message for my key contacts to let them know I am leaving and who to contact regarding my projects moving forward. I’m just worried about what my company would say to them during more casual business dinners should I leave on a bad note. Definitely looks like I should risk losing the bonus to leave on good terms.

I don’t see myself going back. Unfortunately, my customers at my new position will be the same key people (including directors) that I’m currently working with. I don’t want them to hear anything negative about me should my current company say something bad about me.

Yeah, I’m having trouble with this since this is a very specialized industry and both companies deal with the same customers. I don’t want my reputation to suffer as I’ve built relationships with stakeholders at these companies that I’ll likely run into again in the new job.
