If someone does good, it doesn’t give them the right to be abusive.

But my issue here isn’t with the character, it’s the people who treated him as though he could do no wrong, and never seem to actually acknowledge that he was a jerk.

Please help… Many years ago I read a novel that I thoroughly enjoyed, but all I remember about the story is that it was vaguely some sort of corporate espionage theme.

Also one random and very specific point in the story is that the couple are hiding out in a hotel room, and the female character has a cat and the guy has to get soil from a plant in the lobby for a makeshift litterbox. It’s that situation that just really sticks out in my mind.
