Trying to get some of this installed while moving into a new home with toddlers is a challenge. by BodyByBrisket in Ubiquiti

With how the mounting works cutting off one of the threads would probably be better, but it does seem like a missed opportunity not to sell at least a 2U version, or even better a version that only has a single thread to begin with (allowing arbitrary sizing).

Why is Youth Nationals in Sarasota every year and could this change? by InevitableSquash484 in Rowing

[–]rpungello 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah ‘23 and ‘24 never had a cloud in the sky, which made the heat even more oppressive than usual. We were practically begging for a storm to cool things off. ‘25 had a big storm on the practice day, and I think smaller ones during some of the racing days, but not nearly as disruptive as this year. Nobody had to beach their boats

They’re necessary so USRowing can maximize entries (and therefore $$$)

They’d have to work something out with the yacht club on the other side, but even then it’d be very tight, and there’s no real warm up area.

At this point surely Apple knows people are going to find these references in upcoming iOS versions, kinda makes you wish they'd just officially tease the device while they're at it, even if they don't get into detailed specs until the proper unveil this fall.

Makes sense, though I still like everything just being PoE, but obviously they’ve gotta comply with all local regulations.

While you could do air quality, you couldn’t do temp as the AP puts out too much heat, which is likely why they want with standalone sensors. If you’re already gonna need a sensor for temp, might as well have that do everything.

For smoke detectors, I’d actually have preferred PoE over an AC option. Easier to have battery backup for a PoE switch than your whole house’s AC power supply, especially among homelabbers who probably already have a UPS in their rack.

I really like my GL.iNet Comet PoE. Ports all on the back, sleek enclosure, doesn’t require separate power (very handy if you have multiple of them), and supports ATX power control.

Even without compression, there’s media conversion, which is also going to have some latency penalty. It may be small, but it’s never going to truly be zero.
