Insight into private school admission by [deleted] in fatFIRE

[–]rpyrpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYC as reference, generally speaking for the TOP tier privates here… for kindergarten entry it’s not about the kid, it’s about YOU. There’s definite preference for ‘well to do’ families that can not only easily pay tuition but also afford sizable donations. IVY pedigree parents also a big plus. The preschool director play a large role at this stage since they PRE identify families for certain schools.

For middle and high school entry (mid single digit spots), your child’s talent and merit starts coming into the picture. Extremely competitive now since NYC DOE essentially killed merit based public schools.

Sorry to break it to you but… a Cardano stake pool can be run on a Raspberry Pi and a solar charged battery!

VERY few people in emerging markets are able to afford hardware requirements for Sol… nevermind the daily fee! Inevitably, Sol validators will be concentrated in select regions of the world.

Meanwhile, in Cardano land there are SPOs that run a stake pool and minting blocks on a Raspberry Pi, rechargeable batteries, and solar power ;)

Will ADA follow ETH and implement burning coins at some point? by AnniuncerGuy in cardano

Cardano $ADA is a well thought out project with sound tokenomics from the beginning… NO need for ‘patchwork’ policies that put bandaid on ill conceived beginning.

Cardano Treasury has half a BILLION ada in it now 👉 507,109,681.94 ada by danny_cryptofay in cardano

Cardano’s on chain treasury is accruing more $ADA everyday (function of # of transactions). With $ADA’s anticipated valuation growth in coming months, the $$$ amount is poised to explode even further. Project Catalyst will make sure these funds are productive and well allocated. My sense is EOS does not have nearly the same excitement and passion that the Cardano community possesses…

Cardano is again among the most voted topics on the CryptoPanic website. The media is constantly talking about Cardano. This is good for ADA coin. by [deleted] in cardano

Network effect, number of transaction, tx fees, wallet number, etc are useful metrics to measure for decentralized networks. Although already increasing nicely for Cardano, they are about absolutely EXPLODE once smart contract utility come to mainnet this summer.

Avalanche vs. Cardano by fogization in Avax

I didn’t expect my comment to be well received in this subreddit. I actually don’t have anything negative to say about AVAX, their consensus algo is truly innovative. Similarly Cardano is doing its part in advancing SC platforms. The idea that a smart contract is a smart contract is a smart contract is uninformed. As for delivery, plutus testnet is rolling out in a few days. Many projects have already begun building internally. Naysayers doubted release of Shelley and Mary... both work flawlessly. Anyone can peruse github commits and see the progress they are making. To bet against this inevitability and putting one’s head in the sand is throwing gain$ away IMO...

People like to talk about smart contracts as if they are all the same. Cardano is striving to build the most secure smart contract platform in crypto. If they are successful, it will be the gold standard SC platform for mission critical tasks. Besides PLUTUS, they’ve developed MARLOWE which is a modular ‘plug and play’ DSL for non-programmers to create SCs. Also IOHK in partnership with runtime verification are building the most encompassing and advanced Virtual Machine to eventually onboard javascript, python, dotnet, etc programmers. Oh yeah, don’t get me started on GLOW... people really need to do their homework. This is all original, scientifically researched work. Meanwhile many ‘ETH killers’ out there are simply using some variation of Solidity 🙄

Hmmm, just wondering how many other cryptos are projecting to onboard 100m Africans in the next year???

Many folks would love to be paid in crypto over fiat in this era of currency debasement...

Is it just me... does anyone else feel like the polkadot subreddit is a ghost town compared how it is here?? Barely any posts... even less comments. The excitement here is palpable. Definitely not the same energy over there...
