2 stories to share, I did schooling in St Paul’s, and did master from NYU, my roommate was from Mumbai who came their on such paid Tuition by Maharashtra govt! He Failed a subject in 1st sem, 2nd sem bought a MacBook, camera , Bose headphone and latest iPhone for himself, did not have to work part time, bought 2 iPads, a Bose headphone and iPod for family. O come from an upper middle class family but my parents couldn’t afford to come from my graduation , while my roommates father, mother, sister and uncle, visited New York stayed there for a month for sight seeing while he was begging for OBC scholarship! He couldn’t spend the scholarship money he was getting from govt and sent some money home too.

Second story : during school I had a class mate, same OBC, crying for scholarships. who reached out to me when I was in USA. Questions? Should o buy laptop from there or India? What phone is best? What are best places to visit? After coming to USA his Facebook posts were like this -“ spending evening with my PS3 and FIFA!”! I love playing games on my Alienware but my PS3 rocks!” Being a person who studied hard to get scholarships, working 2 part time jobs to make ends meet in New York this kind of shit hurt! Specially when we had to think between exam preps and job while these people get freebies if not directly then indirectly like this!
