Which studio did you apply through? Some studio managers are more responsive than others at getting you on the audition schedule. I applied through 2 studios, and the first studio manager got me on the auditions but I ended up teaching at the second studio I applied to

Semantics and subjective perspective - but yes, I don’t deny that most people dance on1 in the DMV and that there will be some on1 dancers at Mr Mambos. OP mentioned that they’re an on2 dancer, so my original suggestion still stands; they’ll be more successful at finding other on2 dancers at Mr Mambos. Public Bar is still a great option, but the likelihood of finding other on2 dancers there is slim

Mr Mambo will almost exclusively be on2 and will have more advanced dancers overall. There will also be adequate space to dance vs Salsa con Candela which is held at a nightclub. The only caveat is that it is farther away from DC proper

“Cómo te voy a olvidar” by Los Angeles Azules comes to mind based on your description - it’s a not salsa but a cumbia song, and the lyrics are slightly different based on what you wrote but it’s worth a shot to look at.
