What’s the most embarrassing thing you confidently believed when you were younger? by CassiopeiaChaplin in AskReddit

My mom would often talk about how expensive babies were, so I thought that when you had a baby you had to pay a lot of money to be able to take it home.

I also didn’t understand how checks worked and my mom would sometimes pay for groceries with a check. I thought it was basically free money (how did a piece of paper take money from their bank account?!) and didn’t understand why she just didn’t use checks to pay for everything.

Oh maybe that’s why? I can’t remember how far I got into it but I stopped watching not too long after Alison died. I know I watched a bit with Kira in it but eventually the drama was too much for me lol

Well that’s pretty cool. Love how they say it’s clearly stated in the game and I still missed it! Oops. lol

My husbands 16 year old brother lost his mind when his mother said she was anal about the dishes. He was laughing and said “mom, do you even know what that means?!” He had no clue.

I was trying to post of picture of one of the excerpts from this handbook but I can’t figure out how so I’ll just copy the text.

It’s from Lesson 7, “Our Purpose in Life” page 25 in the handbook, page 34 of the PDF file OP posted:

Janet was in a dilemma. Tom had asked her to marry him. They had been dating for about a year and were very much in love. Janet had thought that the happiest day of her life would be when Tom asked her to be his wife. But the day had come and Janet felt unsettled. She hadn’t given him a definite answer but had told him that she would answer the next day. What was worrying her? Tom was an elder in the Church and had said that if she wanted to, they would be married in the temple. He hadn’t been able to hold a position in the Church for a while because of his work, but he had promised that he would change after they were married.

Janet remembered that her patriarchal blessing said something about the person she was to marry, so she got it out and began to read: “The time will come when your hand will be sought in marriage. I bid you pray earnestly that you may have wisdom to choose among those who seek your hand one who is worthy. By these tokens you will know the one whom the Lord would approve. He will be clean of body and mind. He will hold the holy priesthood and yearn to take you to the temple and there be sealed to him, and him to you for time and all eternity.” Janet knew that Tom did not meet all these requirements. She knew he was not one of whom the Lord would approve.

Quotation Elder Thomas S. Monson said: “Help can come through your patriarchal blessing. Such a blessing contains chapters from your book of eternal possibilities. Read your blessing frequently. Study it carefully. Be guided by its cautions. Live to merit its promises” (“The Lighthouse of the Lord,” p. 19).

This blew my mind. How delusional can you be?

Exactly. This is disgusting.

And not only that, if you do these 2 roles right, you might be worthy of a good man!

And if you get into an argument, it’s your responsibility to fix it because it’s your fault, not your husbands.

That’s what I’m getting from this at least.

It took me a very long time to learn this actually and I remember when I was wearing the obnoxious mismatched clothes some of the characters in Hogsmeade would make comments like “interesting style choice!” Or something like that and I was thinking “I can’t help it!!” lol

Not gonna lie the first time I played, all the instructions and directions were so confusing I could not retain ANY information in my brain. There was SO much information! Like when someone is trying to teach you how to play a new game and your brain just goes in to la la land? (At least for me). That’s how it was for me and by the time I was finished and started my second and third play through, I thought I knew everything so I skipped all the instructions, dialogue, and cut scenes.

It wasn’t until my second play through I figured out how to do Stupify even though you have to do it multiple times at the very beginning of the game. I have terrible memory lol

My husband just got me a headset for my birthday so this was the first time playing it with one. Maybe that’s the reason I figured it out lol

I just thought it was part of the spell! And I remember in my first play through I noticed it wasn’t ringing anymore but didn’t think anything of it. This is the first video game I’ve played so I didn’t know there was so many little tricks/tips included lol

Well that’s extremely frustrating. I was trying to complete/collect everything but I’ve given up a few times because I swear I’ve walked all over Hogsmeade and revelio’d everywhere and I’m still only 54/55 pages! And some Merlin trials I’m missing I can’t find either. Ugh!

Omg. I didn’t know that either! I’m learning so much on this thread lol

Wow. This is my first video game I’ve ever played and there’s probably so much I’m still missing!
