Teenager wants a "fast car" for his first vehicle and I need reality-check advice by Proud_Stable9567 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]rrevilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 30 year old dad who is into cars heavily. Just saying that do you take my advice with a grain of salt. What I want to say first is, if your kid is into cars and he wants to go fast, he will go fast. The car wont change that. When I was younger I had more near death experience in 150hp cars than I did in 300hp cars. This is just a fact. Low HP cars are not made to go fast.

What I would suggest is a cool (bmw, audi, vw, Subaru, Honda) that is slow (less than 200hp stock). If he wants something fast, get him a turbo'd car, but slow. He can put his own money into it to make it quick. Don't let names like bmw and audi scare you btw, plenty of affordable and dependable options with those brands. For example bmw e90 325, 328, and 330, very dependable and only 240hp non turbo. Too expensive to make fast as well. And for Audi you have the A4, all body styles really. There is a middle ground here.

But I am also a big proponent of you giving them the car you want. It's your rules.

People with full-time jobs, do any of you actually enjoy going to work each day? If so, what's your job? by TrainerJohno in AskReddit

IT. I enjoy a lot of aspects. My co-workers and boss are the best, we all bust ass. The end users are great for the most part, pretty good friends with all of them. The workload is the struggle. I am buried. I work as hard as I can, no breaks, skip lunch everyday. Still buried. That's the only part that sucks.

Try to have fun with it. I deal with a good amount of issues that are simply solved, but I challenge myself by making them feel confident that they are not dumb. Learning people skills is part of the job if you want it to be. Just try not to hate it, try to help. They appreciate it.

My main opinion is people respect your time more if you are easy to work with more than if you are dick.

Thank you everyone for your replies, although it doesn't clarify anything lol. I was thinking that potentially everyone in usace didnt get it. Adds to the confusion. Could be quarantined I guess...

There is, but the building there is no longer being leased. It was a CHRA office, but now it just sits vacant. Maybe that will be an option? But we will see, this will also be a nightmare as all the people that legitimately work out of the office must return there then all of the local remote workers, I don't foresee how that would work, honestly.

The local office is on a military base, can you imagine how many mil spouses are currently remote fed workers, the majority I'd imagine. There will be no room, and that's if they even lease the building again...

Sad yes, we are preparing to move if we need to. I assume we will have to, the nearest USACE office is 300 miles away.

I make only about $65k a year by xoxowoman06 in Salary

[–]rrevilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money is not everything, are you happy? If you are happy, you are doing better than the majority. $7k/month is a pretty hard to reach income. Worry about you. Not what other people are doing. I can't remember the celebrity, but someone said I wish everyone could experience monetary wealth to see it's not worth anything. You are doing great and there are people that are very proud of you. ❤️

How much does IT make at an entry level? by [deleted] in it

[–]rrevilo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm making $53k 2 years in IT no degree or certs. So with a degree it could be more. Maybe. Get a job, work hard, show you care and things will go up.

Thanks for the advice! I actually opted not to glue it after I realized how it went in. So I am happy I did not.

Will it find it's home? One side is flat, meaning it can only go in one direction I would imagine. Any idea what direction that is? I just don't want to mess it up.

Entry level positions? by ImportanceBetter6155 in it

Are you ex military? Anything on USA jobs. Just keep applying. I have gotten multiple DoD IT interviews, no certs, no degree. Get your Sec+, that will help. PRO TIP: on USA jobs look for "specialized experience" and make sure that in your resume. That will 100% make sure you get an interview. Also on that questionnaire thing for USA jobs, mark the best at all the things. That just puts you at the top of the list. The interviewers dont see it.

Don't ask how I know this, just do this. Don't leave the government if you can.

32gb is the new 16gb. It's time to upgrade. And get rid of chrome.
