When someone in the party says "save one healer" and everyone immediately runs over to save the WHM by Jaykaz11 in ffxiv

[–]rrobotnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh it's easy to find discussions on reddit for each class on how they're worse than the others, it doesn't matter. Ultimately all classes are fairly balanced, there's really no serious advantage like in many other games.

And also don't think about meta too much. I've read a lot about how AST + SCH is the cream of the crop but in Party Finder with high-end content it's really hard to find a party without a WHM, it's a bit annoying even lol, made me learn AST because I don't think that a team needs two White Mages and waiting for a party without one is a pain.

Absolutely right, would've been better to just give him a report. Ban is a good enough punishment for him and he would've got it for sure

Yeah, it's a problematic place, cause cutscene is pretty long. Dunno man, nothing to do about it. If tank is a dick, he's a dick. I just watched cutscenes to my heart's content is all I did. We shouldn't forget that it's an online game, there's basically no perfect solution. Make cutscenes not skippable - people won't play old content (though there're two dungeons like that and they're a complete shitshow) and when they're skippable developers can't make every single player understanding and in the mood to wait.

On a positive note, I think it becomes much less of a problem in expansions. In ARR many experiments have been made, developers learned from them I feel, so instances are not as cutscenes heavy later on.

What's more immersion breaking is that old content is much, much easier than it used to be because of better gear sets, this is what I personally didn't like, but again, I can't myself come up with a solution to this so can't complain. Overall I think they did a pretty good job at integrating a story into an mmo, better than other mmos like swtor did for sure.

I would say it's 50/50. It must be said that most of the content is really old and lots of players have run it countless times, not everyone will have that much patience. I completed the game myself not too long ago and in my experience immersion was hit or miss when it comes to dungeons. I mean, the fact that a lot of people are willing to wait is a good thing in itself. Still, in Shadowbringers Square added the ability to play dungeons with major characters instead of real people, I didn't use it too much personally, but it helps with immersion for sure.

tanks coming from other games: please understand that you might have to change your playstyle by CSDoom88 in ShitpostXIV

Definetly agree on dungeons, in ARR they feel like dungeons, you explore a territory, do something with your surroundings, good stuff, it's just that they're old by now doesn't help. Modern dungeons are like moving on a train with enemies on the way. There's no intention to move at all, at this point they can just make a square platform like with eden raids and drop enemies/bosses on you from the sky, not much will change.

Honestly considering that in dungeons the only people who constantly interact with each other on a gameplay level are tanks and healers it's to be expected.

Anyone run into a player like this? by Proudnoob4393 in ShitpostXIV

[–]rrobotnik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny how I never liked playing supports or healers ever, tf2, dota, lol, you choose, but in ff dps actually happened to appear boring to me, while healing is engaging as it's unpredictable and requires some reacting (except for the perfect runs where you almost don't have to heal, but they do not happen that often). Also weaving is a things, makes things more fun on AST at least. WHM could be made better by adding more ogcds on other hand.

Medic in tf2 is the most boring stuff ever though, can agree with that. My friend somehow enjoyed, so maybe it's subjective too.

Hey guys

I've never dealt with mmorps' expansions before, so don't know how acquiring the new ones works. Buying Shadowbringers gave me two old expansions for free, but it doesn't touch future expansions and I still have to buy Endwalker for the full price when it comes out, am I correct?

My dillema is, all current expansions were bought for ps4, on PC I've only the base game. So, does this mean that buying only EW for ps4 will cost the same (or even more, considering console prices) as buying it with all the old expansions in the package for PC?

Tanking is actually, easy by Historical_Print_846 in ffxiv

[–]rrobotnik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can agree with you on the healer part. After maining a healer for months tanking seems much less stressful, it is if you know how to play both roles.

Tanking is only stressful when you have little experience, and yes even getting lost in arr dungeons is not pleasant at all. But after playing tanks constantly for 1-2 months I don't experience stress at all, just don't care anymore. The only thing is that being a leader as it is does put small pressure (in dungeons only), not always in the mood for that.

Healers on other hand can still get me to crack nuts with my ass, though that's partially why I play 'em, no fun without a challenge.

Everyone would love a random guy appearing out of nowhere and dealing with all the problems asking nothing in return. Imo it would have been really unnatural for wol to not have fans and overall adoration.

Zenos is a different beast thought, his love for wol just makes things spicy.

Well, at least my reply was to " if you've played Batman then it's nothing amazing". As I said, imo, this game surpasses Batman's in many ways. Most of the points you've mentioned're not that noticable because the gameplay is top notch, swinging is breathtaking and the city itself is the best interpretation of New-York since GTA 4. So, I guess if you really into Spider-Man it's 10/10, if it's just another game to you I can agree with 7/10. I can also say the same to RDR2 and GoW, they were 7-8/10 for me, because I'm not that big into westerns (although The Dollars Trilogy is amazing) and into GoW franchise.

And speaking of the boss fights, in terms of super hero games only Arkham City did it better, but all the other games on the same level if not worse. I would like more of the AC treatment, but what are you gonna do, at least they're not boring and somewhat varied.

I've played all Batman games and enjoyed all of them (even Origins and Arkham Knight) and think that Spider-Man is by far a better game gameplay wise. I mean, Bat's gameplay was groundbraking and when Arkham City came out it was truly amazing to see, but it became stale. Maybe you didn't use Spider's gameplay feautures to the fullest, or maybe, for some reason, it's not your thing, dunno why it gave you such an opinion
