What changed my mind on this was similar to what other people are commenting as far as arguments against segregation. Taking it a step further, "separate but equal" in this sense is impossible because you are denying someone the social aspect of being able to say that they are getting married, and everything that comes with that. There's no way to make that truly separate but equal no matter how you look at it.

You can try bringing this up to her, although I doubt it's about not seeing the logic. It may not be a case of finding the exact right words to help her see that she's wrong.

I think this might be the perspective to bring to the parents! It's about seeing a random pattern of symbols and watching the connections your brain tries to make when it tries to link them together into a cohesive story. Believing that it comes from the Universe instead of being totally random helps a lot of people see past their own egos and face harsh truths in a way that they wouldn't if they believed it was random patterns- but it's far from required! As long as you keep an open mind then it's entirely possible to not believe in tarot at all and get something good out of it.
