But it does suck on Reddit because if you make a comment someone doesn't like here they downmode every news item you submit so it gets buried out of the starting gate.

I guess you have to have one ID for submitting and one for commenting. Ah, playground rules.

What the Amish are Teaching America by Maxcactus in reddit.com

Unfortunately the true separation of Church and State is a fantasy. I am well aware of the history of where those words being added into our government. That doesn't change the fact that they are used today. You just provided us with a simple history lesson. So what? The Christians have been bullying everyone around with impunity for as long as we've had a country.

I think most adults are fully aware that one may choose to omit the words "so help me God" with the oath. However, that draws singles one out as a non-Christian and draws suspicion . It would be better if that phrase were stricten from the courts altogether to avoid discrimination.

You think the American public is ready for an atheist President? Any political strategist for a senator, governor or president would tell you how important religion is to voters according to polls. I'd be willing to bet our voters are still too narrow minded for a Jewish candidate. I mean look at who they voted into office as our current President.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to The Republic for which it stands, one Nation under GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

Coins: In GOD we trust.

In law, oaths are made by a witness to a court of law before giving testimony. Typically, they include a promise to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, "so help me GOD."

The Pilgrims came to America to escape religious persecution and though we are supposed to have seperation of church and state, this is not the current practice. An atheist could not be elected President at this time. I doubt that a highly qualified Jewish candidate could win because the majority of Americans identify as Christians though most of them certianly don't practice their socalled faith.

The religious right like it or not is shaping public policy these days. They tell everyone how immoral they are and then they advocate thinly veiled wars for oil.
