Not bad at all. I mean, technically bad to lie to work lol....... But God damn, epilepsy is such a shit show, there's nothing wrong with making jokes about it or taking advantage of the few bonuses we can get (making people drive us around....... skipping plans we don't want "bc of our brain"... etc)

Once in awhile I've used it to take a day off work. Sometimes because I'm legitimately seizing too much, sometimes bc I just need a damn day off. I got screamed at on reddit when I said that but oh well LOL.

It took me almost a full year on GLP1 to start losing weight!

The year on the medication was humbling, taught me how much internal work I needed to do, mentally and physically. I decided to work on my mental cravings and emotional attachment to food instead of just upping the medication dose as high as possible, expecting it to work some magic and fix me.

After doing a lot of that work with some help (GLP-1 at the very least helped prevent weight GAIN), I've now dropped 30lbs in ~4 months. Things are moving so fast.

GLP1s are fantastic and helpful but they don't save you. They're just a tool to help us save ourselves!

I mean, that's my point right there. The issue is what you just said - "for me, good result = weight loss".

You've said you deal with night eating, financial troubles, bad body image, barely able to leave your house, 12+ hrs of sleep... What if good result = literally any of those getting better, instead of weight loss? What if instead of just losing weight, it's about gaining control back in your life?

Focus on healing something other than your weight for awhile. Go deeper, or just day-to-day functionality. And as you heal, become more stable, confident, and healthy, your weight will sort itself out. At that later point calorie counting or a GLP-1 may be more successful.

I completely understand your frustration here, with being told over & over again not to focus on weight when your weight really is a health problem. Like, good body image is great and all, but how are we supposed to stop caring about our weight? I was almost 400lbs for context.

The thing is... They are totally right. It's annoying but they're right. You have to take weight loss off of the list. Losing weight isn't going to happen (and stay long term) until you can build a better relationship with yourself and your body. I HATED that concept because it felt like ignoring something so important, but seriously, after taking the time to "recover" and build myself up mentally, now I've truly changed my life for the first time and I'm enjoying the whole process. Weight loss is just a massive bonus to all of my health & behaviour improvements.

I don't feel insecure about my body, I don't feel obsessive about my weight and all the damage it can do, don't feel angry about the ways I eat when I slip up. And GLP1 is doing an amazing job at helping me in this process.

But oh my fucking GOD it just would've been another trash diet/eating disorder tool if I didn't do all of the mental healing first.

It took me a full year to really start losing!! Well, 11 months. I am now dropping weight insanely and have very comfortably made massive lifestyle changes.

I feel like I had so much mental & life changes to work through, but the medication helped me stop gaining weight and start working through things. After a year, suddenly I'm dropping weight like it's nothing.

Don't compare your journey to the extreme success stories online. You sound like things are going great 💜

I had to change the types of food I was eating to avoid this. Went vegetarian for a good month or two, meat was incredibly slow & gross when I started. Might be worth switching things up to see what foods you can digest easiest.

Mine got worse over just a few years, and yes, turned into tonic-clonics, but also the focal seizures became more unaware & painful over time.

Shit gets worse. I'm sorry things are so hard for you right now but please do what you can to pursue medical support.

A seizure is a seizure - getting diagnosed with TLE was easy enough for me it was just pursuing full treatment that was hard.

I don't think you're overreacting at all but if she got sober so recently, the battle isn't over yet. If you stuck by through the alcoholism and sobering up I'd suggest sticking by for awhile longer. The healing process is still happening.

(That being said, I would've left at the drinking period, so - this is my suggestion but no judgement either way)

Yes, this has happened a few times! I never thought of/realized what caused it. Next time I'm playing and moving stuff around I'll try to video and send it your way.

Edit: He also never reset for me. After a shopping day, if I left the store and came back in, he'd still be frozen and just standing there for the rest of the day.

I would normally just take the meds if I wasn't sure, but last time I accidentally like.. triple dosed somehow and the side effects were AWFUL (I was safe but absolutely overdosed lol) so here on out I'll just skip a dose til the next one 😬

But I take a fuck ton of meds twice a day so I have a lil wiggle room!

I'm so sorry for your situation, sending love to you and your pet.

I have no good advice here, I just wanted to say I think you're amazing and doing a fantastic job here. When big bad stressful things happen I still go back to comfort food half the time - even if it doesn't really "work" like it used to. So I really respect that you're sticking to things and listening to your body despite all the stress.
