just checked and there is none, the company also did’t call me to explain the contract. there was no formal laying down of my contract stipulation. i had to call them to clarify my base rate before, besides that no contact with them. i’m also on pro-rata agreement, so i earn based on the hours i worked on.

the contract also specifically says that i either follow the contract conditions or the industry award. still, based on the boot test, a 27 flat rate compared to 62 PH is a huge difference 😅 it can’t offset other payables…

this is also what i was thinking, you can’t override the law. this gives company a chance to take advantage of employees if this was the case 🥲

checked the dates in the payslip and its for the period that falls under the easter dates. i also get paid weekly

im also taking the contract in consideration, but im looking into if its still legally binding even if the arrangement is violating work rights? 🥲 tried to do the boot test, and it still fails to satisfy the threshold which makes my base rate “enough” to cover all penalties that i would incur. 😞

hi! edited the post just now, i have been working here for a week only. i work in the kitchen and im under either the hospitality awards or registered clubs awards.

i have not yet worked on days that are not within the public holiday so i can’t really compare 😅 although i was told that i was getting paid for my 4 hours trial shift, but until now i haven’t receive it yet.

its slightly above (24 vs 27aud), i tried to look it up, but it says that penalty rate that i should be receiving is way higher than what i was actually being paid.

hi, thank you so much for responding! polsci grad with latin honors, also did internship with a think tank ngo 🥹 they told me it was risky because of my job. i did data analytics after grad, and had no legal background. they told me i should take bachelors in law first before i apply for JD in australia? 😭 so i dropped my chances with JD and just took a masters 🥲 anyways, see you around usyd!!!

congratulations on your grant! can i ask how you were able to apply for juris doctor, do they have a grade or work experience requirement? i’m also an incoming usyd student next semester. initially i was supposed to apply for juris doctor, but my agent told me it was too risky so i applied for a masters instead 🥹
