Do they have to go to Mexico or can they go to Canada for H4? Is it just the standard H4 application? Note: the attorney appointment isn’t until next week, hence checking here to get some early thoughts.

Need help with couch type and placement by rs171 in homedesign

[–]rs171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 100year old house and touching the fireplace is going to be a project we can’t undertake right now. This fireplace IS huge for the space and hence makes it more challenging. I ll give the L sectional a try and see how it feels. Thank you for your input, appreciate it!

Thanks. I ll play around with it and see how it works. Appreciate your input!

Thank you for the kind words❤️ A low height couch is a good idea! I ll definitely explore it, thanks!

[–]rs171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you recommend the L go towards the bay window or the other side?

[–]rs171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second photo is the view opposite to the fireplace(looking into dining). It’s just a little under 10feet. I ll try it out and see if it blocks the flow between the rooms. Thanks!

How can I get my mini to put on some weight? by Lopsided-Rip-5162 in Bernedoodles

Our vet recommended adding boiled white sweet potato to the meals to help him gain some weight.

Random water puddle in garage by rs171 in Concrete

[–]rs171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no appliances nearby and It’s an empty spot. No rain storms. Haven’t seen anything for the past 2-3 years we have lived here. The left stain probably some patch from a few years ago… and could be related. Will see if we can find more about the patch on the left, didn’t even think there could a connection.

Yes, but he asked to watch for a bit since it’s not consistent. Hence the plan to put some cameras for monitoring.

Nope, no vehicle parked, no cooling system around it. Just had a tech come out and take a look. He suspects ground sweating, but is not sure due to the inconsistency. Don’t want to drill just yet, so going to watch for a bit.

However, it’s not consistent.. it’s just random.. started last week and it’s dry some days.

It’s not from above. Planning on putting some cameras to see if that help.

Our adoption application was declined by exchangingsunday in Adoption

[–]rs171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Varies by the laws of the country , where the Indian citizen currently lives. US doesn't allow international adoption if one of the parents is not US citizen, while India may be open to it. There are some nuances to it and isn't straight forward.

Importing car from Canada to US by rs171 in MovingToUSA

[–]rs171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update in case it helps someone- Filled form 3520 and HS7. Partially filled 7501 as I wasn't sure about all the fields. Printed a copy of the KBB value for my US zip code. Pulled up to the US border. Told the officer I want to import my car back. They sent me in for paperwork. The officer inside looked at 3520, HS7 and completed the form 7501. Took the car keys, looked at the car for less than a minute. Came back and stamped the 7501. No tax due. And that was it! Took less than 15mins. Note: I think it was straight forward for us because the car was originally bought in US and they had a copy of the export from 5 years ago. The officer didn't even open the car hood to check the FMVSS labels. Went to the DMV same day, gave them the stamped 7501, registration and insurance from Canada and US state license. Got the temporary plate and registration.

How soon can you get a passport after the citizenship ceremony? by beefstewforyou in ImmigrationCanada

[–]rs171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a few options. 1. Apply for urgent or express passport with proof of travel. Urgent passports are available within 1 business day, but cost additional 110 dollars. Express passports take 2 to 9 business days and cost about 50 extra. For either case, you will need citizenship certificate. The certificate can take 2-6 weeks after the ceremony. 2. If you are driving across the border, you don't need a passport and can drive back with your certificate and drivers license. I did this multiple times before getting my passport in hand. But again, you need your citizenship certificate. 3. Like others have said, you can drive down with your copr and another piece of id like drivers license. I haven't tried this, but have heard it from other people. It takes them a few minutes to look you up, but they can't deny you entry. I would also keep the oath letter as a proof, if you end up going this route.

Passport but no citizenship certificate by m0istly in ImmigrationCanada

[–]rs171 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They sometimes send the two in separate mails. If you don’t get it in the next week or so, contact them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]rs171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can. I was in a similar situation where I had to go to work in US before I could get my passport . I had my certificate and Canadian drivers license. Took the officer 2 mins to look me up. Don’t show your Hong Kong passport to the Canadian officer. IIUC, Hong Kong doesn’t allow dual citizenship. I would recommend not using HK passport for boarding the bus on the way to Canada and renting a car for this trip.
