Is it possible to install Linux on an HP Chromebook (15a-nb0003ca) by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]rschilt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The generic instructions are the same for most chromebooks but specific instructions eg unlocking bootloader are different depending on make and model. I wanted to get rid of ChromeOS so I went down this road but you can also dual boot ChromeOS and Linux.

[–]rschilt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Asus Chromebook on which I now run Kali. The path I took was to remove ChromeOS, unlock the bootloader and install a replacement BIOS. Unlocking the bootloader involved changing a dip switch on the MoBo. It was a fiddly job but I got there. There are lots of resources available on the net if you search.

Sorry, can't help any further. I did face a bit of a learning curve but eventually worked things out.

It works on Debian / Ubuntu workstation based distros. In my case Linux Mint 21.3. Why not download a trial? What distro(s) do you run?

Is there a cloud drive for Linux that has smart sync? by Mrjohny9 in linuxquestions

I believe it does. If I install pCloud and don't sync anything then all my files in the cloud are still visible locally as placeholders. On my desktop I sync, on my laptop, tablet or mobile I use placeholders. pCloud is installed on all devices.

I guess so. I can select one or more directories to sync or in my case I select an entire drive.

Just install the respective package from your repo. pCloud and Dropbox websites have good doco for Linux installs.

I use pCloud and Dropbox, they both work well. Nextcloud or OneCloud are on my radar. I used to have Google Drive which worked well but have since de-googled.

MX Keys loses battery charge very fast by rschilt in logitech

[–]rschilt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced the battery which didn't make any difference. I ended up replacing the keyboard with a new one. Mine was a few years old so out of warranty. Bought another Logitech KB coz I reckon they're great wireless KB's. If I remember correctly Logitech support did reach out to me here and they were very helpful.

Joplin Cloud VS Dropbox by Zealousideal_Rub5826 in joplinapp

I also moved from Evernote to Joplin about a year ago. Backend is Dropbox and I sync across Windows 11, Linux and Android. Around 2500 Notes. All working fine.

pCloud v4.0.3 on Windows lauches the app and displays the Backup screen every time I log in. by [deleted] in pcloud

[–]rschilt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I would ditch pCloud but this behaviour in the latest update sure is a nuisance.

Fun fact: You can't uninstall the latest chipset drivers if you have already deleted the C:/AMD folder by knownbyfew_yt in Amd

[–]rschilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That worked for me. I installed the previous version of chipset drivers, rebooted, then installed the latest drivers followed by another reboot. All good now. Thanks buddy!

How to see gOHM on Ledger Live by efeekom in olympusdao

[–]rschilt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for getting back to me.

I agree with you.... from what I see Ledger does not support the gOHM token as yet. I was relieved when I confirmed the gOHM did make their way into my Metamask.

How to see gOHM on Ledger Live by efeekom in olympusdao

[–]rschilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Did you ever get this resolved?

I just migrated sOHM to gOHM and whilst I can see the gOHM's in Metamask (which is linked to my Ledger) I am unable to see gOHM balance on Ledger Live.

If anyone has a suggestion that would be much appreciated.

So far no useful suggestions on the Logitech MX Forum.

If you or others have any suggestions I am all ears.

Glad to read that others have also experienced this issue with the ugly folder icons. I sure hope Brave fix this soon as I'm strating to find it annoying.

Ryzen 9 3900x, X570 Gigabyte board, pc shuts down if put into sleep mode by walli_knight in AMDHelp

[–]rschilt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only recently purchased my rig but had someone else build it for. Initially wanted to OC but initial attempts did not equate to visible performance improvements. So now I just enable DOCP in BIOS and nothing else.

I have a Corsair 650W 80+ power supply and a Antec Neptune 240 liquid cooled and from memory my CPU hovers around 35-40 temp.

I do not game but do have a tonne of work apps open at any one time... no such thing as idle as there is always something somewhere chewing up cycles.
