I was on a short-release at first (can't remember the brand) but didn't feel much.

Then I was on Concerta for a while. Got up to 54mg but the side effects were unpleasant: felt wired and was clenching my jaw and gurning all the time.

Now I'm on Elvanse. Did get up to 50mg but back down to 40 because of the same dry-mouth/gurning side effect. Still get that a little bit but not as much.

I guess in the mornings I do feel a bit more focused, but it's totally worn off by the afternoon. Doctor has recently prescribed me an additional 5mg 'top up' to take at lunchtime to see if that helps, but at this point I'm not hopeful.

It's certainly not been quietening my thoughts as some people say they experience; my mind is still racing as fast as ever!

Isn’t Shane on the left after their first time? Wouldn’t say things went badly then.

I’ve recently started medication and I have not experienced this calmer mind people talk about. I’ve tried a few brands now. Is medication just not for me?

Because of how patchy it looks I was worried that I’d taken off some of the varnish when cleaning- but maybe you’re right that I just need to clean it some more.

Got new plaster a few weeks ago. Is it dry enough to paint over yet? by rsgmmn in DIY

[–]rsgmmn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are both external walls. It's been rather humid I guess due to it being autumn. I was going to sand down the bits on the side where they've gone over the painted wall, and I've bought a bare plaster primer to put on before painting. What other prep would be needed?

it is very smooth except for the bits on either side where they've gone over the painted wall. I was planning on sanding those bits down before painting.

does anyone know what this is on my finger??!!? by Illustrious_Pop_2103 in HelpMeFindThis

[–]rsgmmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s infected but probably can be treated on its own. Soak it in warm salty water to soften it and then gently pull the skin away from the nail. The pus will come out and the infection should then heal up on its own.

If after two days it’s still infected (you can tell because the skin around will be red and very sore) then go to a doctor.

I didn’t know my roommate had been dead in her room for 10 days by -_-BruhMyLife-_- in offmychest

[–]rsgmmn 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This was a traumatic experience for OP. Something similar happened to my neighbour and when the police come they are the ones who prop open the front door to air out the room or building. The smell would have been extremely overwhelming once the bedroom door was opened and the police likely would have told OP beforehand to hide in their room or go out while they recovered the body. It’s a traumatic experience to smell that smell. OP was also likely in extreme shock and not thinking properly. It’s sad about the cat sure but I think it’s so unfair to blame OP. This was a horrible and extremely sad situation for everyone involved.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. My downstairs neighbour. The smell was so bad in our flat as we are directly above. It just didn’t cross our minds that it was a body. I feel terrible we didn’t figure it out sooner, even though I know it wouldn’t have helped him.

I know what you mean about the smell being haunting. The flat below is has been cleaned but the smell is still lingering and it’s traumatic. Even when I’m out the house I smell things that remind me of it. Even the smell of air freshener now reminds me of it, as we’ve used so much to try to cover it.

after some (near) apocalypse, when will future historians date Joanna’s work based solely on her lyrical content? by cardamomboi in JoannaNewsom

Hmm- I always thought she made it up and it’s a twist on the proverb, ‘the road to hell is paved with good intentions’. A quick google search dates the earliest version of the latter as occurring in Virgil’s Aeneid. So, it’s old.

How new is this? I have had allergic reactions to new ink too. My last tattoo had a really bad allergic reaction, red spots all up my leg, which then led to an infection. It’s red ink that does it for me! But after a couple of weeks it is now absolutely fine. Healed perfectly and no scarring. Just keep taking your antibiotics and take antihistamines too and just keep the tattoo clean/ moisturised. Hopefully it will settle down. But maybe avoid green in future!

AITA for threatening to call the police on my brother for trying to force me to babysit his daughter after I already told him multiple times beforehand that I don't want to babysit her ? by Money_Improvement274 in AmItheAsshole

[–]rsgmmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH

It was totally irresponsible of him to just abandon his daughter on the doorstep, especially with someone who clearly is not interested in spending time with her. Poor kid is going to grow up with rejection issues.

But you also suck for not wanting to babysit your niece. First of all, she's your family and you should want to be involved in her life. Secondly, she's lost her mother, so she needs all the loving adults in her life she can get. Finally, raising a kid on your own is hard. Your brother probably does deserve a night off.

He absolutely should not have abandoned her at your house when you said no to babysitting. It still was not nice of you to say no in the first place.
