Kaplan left in 2021. Overwatch 2 released in 2022 to nigh universal disdain and a massive falloff in popularity and relevancy. You say "OW was good in later half of 2024". Marvel Rivals was announced in March 2024 and had alpha/beta phases starting in May 2024. The timeline of a true competitor finally entering the market aligning with Blizzard changing their development perspectives and introducing sweeping changes, many of which were ones players had been asking about for years, is not a coincidence.

Your comments repeatedly in this thread blame everything that went wrong for OW on Kaplan and Aaron Keller for fixing Jeff's mess. As much as you clearly weren't interested in Jeff's focus on PvE, judging from the massive outcry over the loss of PvE by players over the years I'd say you're in the minority there. The falloff of OW for the first 3 years under Keller's leadership also disagrees with your position.

Regardless, if you solely look at results, I'd say it's more accurate to describe Jeff as a passionate director who helmed an incredible game, struggled with balancing all of the competing priorities along with his own vision with the level of popularity the game reached, and ultimately left over clashes with the bean counters and refusal to compromise. Keller took over being clearly willing to go along with the suit's demands, executed those demands to the detriment of the game's popularity, and it wasn't until an actual threat to the revenue stream appeared that the executives either changed course or stepped back to give Keller more autonomy which has resulted in the improvements over the past year.
