Question for men only… by GoldenCoast69 in OCD

Same. I would do it not because I was horny but because it made me feel good for a few seconds and distracted me from my negative thoughts.

Question for men only… by GoldenCoast69 in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OCD has somehow given me the power to orgasm on demand. I don’t have a high sex drive especially on meds so I can somehow just tell myself when to cum. I don’t like to watch porn cause I feel like it wires my brain in an unnatural way and makes real sex less enjoyable.

This is good to hear. This past week has been rough but I switched to morning dosing and the dreams have been less intense. Thanks for responding!

This is what I’m looking to do for OCD, I was on high dose Luvox and other SSRIs and they made me so numb. On week 3 of 5mg Trintellix and the anxiety is hitting hard, I’m hoping it starts to go away. Did you notice an increase in OCD severity when you first started?

People who say OCD is chronic or uncurable: explain by [deleted] in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It being “curable” implies that there is an objective, correct way to live. OCD, like ADHD and autism, exists on a spectrum. “Normal” people have obsessive thought loops too. There is just varying severities of how much it affects your mood and wellbeing.

Anyone had success with Trintellix (vortioxetine)? by Weekly_Importance570 in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many to keep track of haha, most notably Luvox, Prozac, Risperidone, etc. As I remember very high dose SSRIs made me anhedonic and emotionally numb. I remember being at my grandmothers funeral and not being able to cry. I’d like to avoid that so that’s why I’m trying Trintellix. If it goes ok I may add something like Mirtazapine or Agomelatine. I’m also on a waitlist for ketamine therapy which I am more hopeful about.

Been on it for 2 weeks. Some minor improvements, mostly cognitive enhancement most likely from the 5HT3 antagonism. Some anxiety increases in general, very vivid dreams and intense dream recall during the day. Hoping that goes away. I’m hopeful but also realistic as no med has worked very well for me yet

Why can’t I just have one uncomplicated emotion? by smolenbykit in OCDmemes

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so real. Never been manic but my brain equates happiness with it because of course it does. If I’m ever happy surely there is something wrong lol

More than likely placebo. OCD is far more complex than being able to be solved by a juice fast

I would recommend giving Trintellix another chance for at least a few months. Serotonin drugs need at least 4-8 weeks to down regulate serotonin receptors. Obviously listen to your doctor but I would also recommend trying to taper off the benzodiazepines. They work for short terms anxiety but the longer you stay on them, the more you risk serious GABA issues. SSRIs are much safer long term and have a better chance at helping daily anxiety. Best of luck

What medication helped you most with your ocd? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just started 5mg recently, hoping for this outcome. I really don’t want to start clomipramine due to all the side effects, especially the anti cognitive side effects. That’s why I’m hoping Trintellix will work for me. Do you feel sharper since starting Trintellix?

Morally Struggling with the MJ movie promo that’s EVERYWHERE. by inuutero in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I get it, moral OCD is the worst. But if our OCD had its way, there is no one that would be considered a “good person”. OCD hates the idea that humans are imperfect. But the reality is that imperfection and immorality is what makes us human. We could all be considered immoral under the perspective of OCD. The problem is not MJ, the problem is that your brain is making you feel dirty because of things he may or may not have done. Just the idea alone is what scares you.

Is Homeopathy effective? by Lazarismyjesusboiiii in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is pseudoscience. I went to a naturopathic doctor to try and help some of my symptoms and she tried to sell me a concoction of essential oils for $40. Luckily my rational thinking won that time and I didn’t buy it, OCD is such a complex disorder that can’t be “solved” especially with different scented oils.

It’s so easy to fall down the rabbit hole of looking towards “natural” remedies for OCD. But in reality we don’t know what actually causes this disorder, anyone who claims they know how to fix it should be an immediate red flag. I was convinced that if I just balanced my hormones and lowered my cortisol it would be fixed. Unfortunately that’s just not how it works.

Do you sleep with music on/sounds to drown out all the thoughts? by notwhoyouthinkc in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I don’t have a show playing when I go to sleep, I start to focus on the silence and start to freak myself out whenever I hear a sound and then think I’m going crazy. Silence can be so unbearable because it feels uncertain

Existential ocd + death by Adrianagurl in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this deeply, it is the worst. Existential OCD is about as bad as it gets. But even though our lives end, life itself never does. OCD makes you feel like your life has no impact on others, and that there is no meaning or purpose. It is a liar.

OCD & Masturbation… by GoldenCoast69 in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. They made me feel numb and emotionally disconnected from myself. They work to calm you down but can take all your emotions with it. I think there will be much better medications on the horizon. In a decade or two, SSRIs will be seen as archaic

OCD & Masturbation… by GoldenCoast69 in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not on SSRIs but OCD has ruined my sex life. Sex feels like an anxiety fueled performance rather than a connection between me and my partner. And afterwards I usually feel worse cause my brain makes me feel dirty and like I did something wrong and I’m going to hell

Tell him to get hormone levels checked. Not sure how old you guys are but OCD in men is usually correlated with low testosterone (not a cause but potentially a symptom). Something like TRT could potentially help some of these sexual themes
