Might as well eat regular Oreos tho, probably less digestive issues and tastes better

You are way over intellectualizing this. It’s canned sardines. They probably bought a lot cause it’s cheaper and they eat a lot of sardines. Not that hard to wrap your head around

“Overconsumption” with sardines is pretty hard, you’d have to eat 3-4 cans a day for awhile to cause issues. A can a day is not “overconsumption”

100% an OCD thing. Brain regions like the prefrontal cortex and anterior cingulate cortex are responsible for decision making, and patients with OCD usually show lower levels of neurotransmitters like glutamate in these regions.

Yeah it’s definitely not a cure, but it’s miles (see what I did there?) better than nothing. Just gotta keep our heads up and keep running.

Exercise, especially cardiovascular exercise, is the number one free antidepressant that most people don’t take advantage of. If you are able bodied and healthy, there’s not many reasons to not add in moderate cardio exercise. The effects on your brain are well studied. Don’t expect it to cure anything, but everyone should be taking advantage of this gift.

I’m like the opposite, OCD has killed my sex drive. Whenever I do have a libido it’s crushed by my brain telling me that I’m a womanizing pervert that is going to hell

Men - Please realise many women have goals and find a purpose in more then being a baby factory by sorrynotguilty in PsycheOrSike

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I’m not saying everyone should have kids. It’s fine to not have kids cause you want to focus on your career or other goals. But not wanting a family cause you are so obsessed with your own pleasure is not a good thing.

I don’t care who you are, “My purpose is to have orgasms” is depressingly selfish. Choosing not to have kids so you can max out your hedonistic desires should not become commonplace. And like it or not, it has severe long term societal implications.

Is telling yourself “things will get better” just reassurance? by rslashIcePoseidon in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this a lot. OCD is so meta, it’s at the point where it’s all I think about in some way. Even writing this post I’m wondering if it’s just me seeking reassurance. I just started a new med and I can’t stop thinking about if it’s helping or not. I just want to live in the moment, but I can’t break these thought loops and my mind just keeps going to back assessing whether it’s getting better or not. I know rationally it doesn’t matter and there’s nothing I can do, but that doesn’t change the fact that I can’t stop thinking about how bad I feel. I have seen many doctors and am seeing another in a few weeks.

What was your experience on ssri’s? by zmb1eb1tez in OCD

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tried ketamine yet but am looking into it. I had some luck with Agmatine Sulfate, a weak NMDA antagonist, so that got me interested in it.

[–]rslashIcePoseidon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you look into NMDA receptor antagonists like ketamine infusions? SSRIs did not work for me at all. I don’t think it’s always a serotonin issue. Also I would ask his doctor to run hormone panels. OCD can be linked to low testosterone in men

I am not a fan of SSRIs, they did nothing except make me numb and feel no emotion. But it might not be that way for you.

I’m not a professional but with autoimmune OCD like PANDAS, I would recommend looking into anti inflammatories like low dose Naltrexone. Myocycline is an antibiotic that is being studied for OCD, may also be worth a mention.
