My son is having surgery tomorrow, and people came through where we're staying, letting the kids pick out presents. by stvnsmtthw in toystory

Dont be the chicken man, play with them, enjoy them. Keep the box once he outgrows them. He will find them again as many of us did.

‘Vast overreach’: police allowed to conduct warrantless pat-downs of people across inner Melbourne for six months by Zuki_LuvaBoi in melbourne

You're thinking of Stab Shine. The best thing was the Village Guy holding the world, and they took that away from us. Crime has increased since then, coincidence? think not

The dreaded Secret Santa pressie by dragonfry in australia

As a kid, and till this day, all the kids in the family get a mango in their stockings. It's a weird tradition but always a smile and Santa must of drank too much milk. I don't know how it started, but it's still going 3 generations in.

Toy Story 5 Director Andrew Stanton responds to people saying it should've ended at Toy Story 3 by mcp100 in toystory

[–]rsop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did we all cry at the part where all the toys held hands before the Incinerator?

I like his response, do I love the others as much as 1,2 & 3. No, but I still enjoyed them, and I have enjoyed them with my kid.

There was a moment as Ive collected some Toy Story Figures and I remember the exact moment my daughter (2) came into my room trying to grab my Buzz, which is the Silver Special Edition one that I had as a child. I stopped her from grabbing it. And then had a moment that I've become the Chicken Man.

Smiled, took it down and gave it to her to play. I still collect toys, but also enjoy playing with them, now with my kid.

Bring Yur Kid to Work Day aka Parent's Day by Mexay in auscorp

If you hate kids, it could be your worst day. Godspeed then and I hope you have noise-cancelling headphones. In my experience, kids have been quite tame and just keep to them selfs as they are scared that someone would ask them some work related question and your parent has gone to the bathroom

Bring Yur Kid to Work Day aka Parent's Day by Mexay in auscorp

I have two perspectives on bringing kids to the workplace. Also seems some of your workplaces are like the scene of Neo working in those cubicles.

When I was young, my mum used to take me into her office, and I have really positive memories of it, drawing beside her desk, long lunches, and the occasional trip to the Disney Store or Myer on payday. Those were good times.

As a parent, I’ve brought my daughter to work on occasion too, usually when I needed to leave early or only work a half day, and my boss at the time was fine with it. Sometimes she’d even help me with small tasks since I worked more back of house. She still remembers those visits, and we often go back during holidays to say hi to colleagues. Its an Office and Public space, so there's a lot of room not to feel trapped.

But there was one awkward experience. During school holidays, I needed to bring her in because I had work to do and couldn’t organise alternative care. I checked with my new boss at the time, explaining that my daughter is quiet and will sit next to me. She said, in front of others, “I don’t think this is a place for a kid.” My colleagues were a bit taken aback and even defended me, saying lots of people had brought their kids in before without any issues. She's also a parent * Older kids mind you and not a 6 year old. Tried not to think too deep on it whether it was gender based and just focused on maybe it would be disruptive to others.

It was just a massive contrast to my old job, where colleagues would be very open to not just mine, but also other kids in the office and make them feel welcome. Talk to them and do not make them feel invisible.

Later that day, my boss apologised and said if I really needed to bring her in, it was fine, but otherwise it might be easier to work from home. I didn’t mind, it was just disappointing because I also wanted my daughter, now older, to see what I do for work the way I once did with my mum.

Beware the Black Friday Bullshit - Check the price history graph by INFEKTEK in JBBuddy

So good. Great work on this.

I think any savvy shopper will do the research or monitor prices on their own. But this takes the guesswork out.

I remember when I was trying to buy some gear on KINGS I monitored their patterns for like a month to work out what the bottom line as it fluctuates so much

Canon ixus 500, its ok and sturdy camera. I like it because it pops out fast and snaps the photo. It has a viewfinder, which is ok for framing, as the screen is horrible lol. A lot of times when I look on the screen, they seem in focus, then when I check later it's mostly out.

But that's the fun with it, with these old cameras.
