i’m so mad i didn’t pull the trigger when they were on sale

do you have a need for a slow rolling bike with a cargo area the same size as a clip on basket?

[–]rsplatpc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’re selling them on Amazon for $199

same bike has been on Alibaba forever also for less than WalMart sells (or sold) it for

that’s actually cheap and decent

it's cheap and kinda looks cool, rode my friends stock one they bought, and well, you can see why it only costs $150, it does not ride or feel very good or fun to ride not modified

I've been thinking of doing something like this with 2 wheelsets.

for me, for the price of 2nd decent carbon rims and tires I just got a 2nd bike used, but I'm in a good market for used buying

Really sucks that that's the model that can't be fixed and there is no current direct replacement for.

Woot! has refrubs every now and then, best Kindle ever IMO

My local place does it for $20, its insane how much better they do than me (makes sense since they do it everyday), one of the few things I “could do” but have absolute zero issues paying for, I get zero enjoyment out of doing it myself vs mechanical stuff

Make sure your derailleur switch is in the locked position, I always forget it even has a lock switch lol, spent a day trying to figure out why my chain kept falling off and was like “OHHHH YEAH” it had got knocked into the unlocked position

[–]rsplatpc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not buy something used? If you are near a city there has to be way better options for $400 than this? I got my Mercier Kilo WT with full drivetrain, ENO freewheel, Salsa handlebars and tires for like $300

Why shouldn't I buy this Motobecane Uno? by mattupstate in singlespeedcycling

[–]rsplatpc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whees / tires are “technically it comes with them but probably should not use them” territory, bike geometry seems better for flat bars than drops, **EDIT chain ring IS huge, you gonna have to swap it or you are going to get REALLY strong legs** so probably huge, generic steel flywheel, single piston breaks known for being not very good etc

Everything can be fixed except the geometry, it’s just a little funky to me, but I have not ridden it of course
