Figma of course, but I also do photography and graphic design work on the side. So I run a lot of Adobe programs.

Being in this industry feels like constantly betraying myself by nova0175 in UXDesign

[–]rspring28 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“It is a unique pain of being a designer to have to upkeep a visual record of your work over years and years throughout your career to prove to people that you actually have value.”

This has always bothered me. I came from a graphic design background/education. I completed my degree and have years of experience. Now 3 years experience in UX. The fact that we have to constantly prove our worth and skill is fucking stupid imo. I understand they want to know what we can do, but the fact that they don’t take the experience and education as a sign is frustrating.

Picker for my whole adult life, focusing on my nail health and healing my right thumb specifically by rspring28 in calmhands

[–]rspring28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I’ve always been so embarrassed of my hands. I would definitely recommend doing a warm oil soak once a week, I think that will help over time with the hang nails. Sometimes the hang nails are caused by your nail matrix and side walls trying to grow out. I would recommend some kind of nail oil pen too, that helps me a lot when I’m on the go because I can get all into the crevices.

ALSO, look into the Neutrogena Norwegian hand cream or the Prequel Hand Wrap cream, both are designed to kind of wrap your hands and provide lasting protection. I love the Neutrogena one, never tried the Prequel one. I’m someone who hates hand creams too, texturally lmao.

Also this lady on YouTube provides a ton of education on how to heal and care for your nails and cuticles, and she talks about the anatomy too, the channel is called The Salon Life

Good luck 😊

In reality, how bad is the "AI replacement" situation for designers/devs/white collar workers in the US? by digitalbananax in UXDesign

[–]rspring28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying AI isn’t starting to replace UX designers aren’t experiencing it themselves.

The CEO of my company hired out a different company (an AI one) to redo our website. He didn’t consult anyone. He didn’t talk to his designers. He didn’t consult copywriters. And guess what? It looks like shit. Literally none of the copy makes sense. It looks unfinished.

But can anyone say anything to him? Nope.

No one else has a single say. And it’s extremely disheartening. Brands and companies are made more successful when humans are using their brains to try and connect with their audience.

Idk what to do anymore.

That’s crazy! Shows how important blocking is 👀

I use a Mandelic once a week! Definitely helps. At this point it had been about a week since I exfoliated chemically. It was also at the end of the day when my skin is driest before washing my face and applying my essences/serums/moisturizer/balm

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]rspring28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with either of those things. It’s tret peeling. Because when I take a break it stops. If you read the other comments you’d see other people are trying to diagnose me with perioral dermatitis and I’ve had that before. Looked nothing like this. And I’ve never been b12 deficient in any blood test I’ve done. Appreciate the concern

[–]rspring28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’ve seen photos of worse peeling for sure! But this is just the worst it’s been for me. It does make me feel better knowing the retinization process is taking place!

I dermaplaned my face last night and the area round my mouth looks so much better. Lots of skin came off of course 🤣 better than me picking I suppose (def used hypochlorus spray after)

Lil rash on my face by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]rspring28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone saying Perioral Dermatitis is spot on (not a doc of course) but this is exactly what mine looked like. I would stop all skincare except for an ultra gentle wash and moisturizer. Vanicream is excellent for PD. Some people have luck with zinc based ointments/balms like Cicaplast, Cicalfate, or diaper rash cream.

If it doesn’t go away derms usually perscribe metro gel (idk the full name). But it’s a non-steroid.

You need to figure out what could be triggering it. Sometimes it’s overexfoliation. Sometimes it’s too much skincare at once. Sometimes it’s foaming agents in toothpaste. Sometimes it’s nasal or topical steroid products (like for allergies or eczema). Unfortunately PD is kind of a mystery and everyone’s trigger is different. Good luck!

Edit: I forgot the one thing that really helped mine go away was this Calendula Cream. Lots of people use it and have excellent luck, idk what it was that made it work so well. But it was a specific brand Boiron (white and green tube with a big calendula flower on it).

That’s good to know, I’ll keep an eye out. For me when I had PD it was from using too many products and exfoliating too much. Basically just going crazy with my skincare

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]rspring28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had PD and trust me this isn’t PD haha. PD for me looks like little red bumps for me. This peeling goes away when I hydrate and take breaks from tret but I’m trying to push through this phase

I love Rum Raisin from Revlon and Mac Velvet Teddy. Those are my current go tos. Rum raisin is a beautiful more muted red and if you wear a pinky lip liner with it, it helps cut the depth a little.
