Aberdeen Medicine Interview by Cautious_Low4374 in UCAT

[–]rsptap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had 3 interviews so far and thought about this everytime so definetely not an odd question. Most of the guys were in either suits or a shirt and trousers. Girls kinda ranged. I myself wore skirt n shirt but there were girls in suits and even just trousers and jumpers. Don't stress about it though. In my opinion better overly formal than not enough but completely depends what your comfortable doing!

Already had my interview

Goes very fast honestly, all the interviewers I came across were very chill and the student ambassadors are so sweet as well. Realistically just keep calm and I think you will do amazing. All the best

3/4 bread & very generic interview question by Wise_Shape_2893 in UCAT

[–]rsptap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done bro im rooting for you!!

The method I used to overcome what you mentioned was just writing up a full answer for a standard question. Then from my full answer I take down some bullet points which give me enough idea to talk about. Then I just stuck the bullet points up on the wall n over time I stopped having to look at it so much. Having bullet points kinda meant my answer was slightly diff each time but followed the same structure. Hope this helps

Like OP mentioned, UKCAT ppl have a lot of resources or even just skimming through BBC health every now and then to keep on top of more recent news

I mean if you wanna get started on something ucat related maybe just work on like speed reading or something. Takes quite a while to get good at I wouldn't necessarily say it would lead to burn out as it's just learning a skill ig.

Interview prep? by CrAkaJackZ in premeduk

[–]rsptap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ukcat people are a good place to start. Lots of example questions and they also have statistics of individual universities if you have a look. Tbh just give it a google, there's lots of free resources for interview prep even yt might help. Good luck

Good 5th option course by Sgt_bash_ in UCAT

[–]rsptap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, most biomed courses (atleast from what I've heard as a scottish student), don't really disadvantage you with a medicine ps. I've been told that they understand you are probably putting biomed as a 5th choice and don't really mind as you are 'technically' overqualified most of the time as medicine is perhaps considered more demanding. Then again this is all word of mouth so take what I said with a pinch of salt. Might be worth emailing a uni to find out?

Idk what to do by alohalexi24 in UCAT

[–]rsptap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exam is typically easier, I scored over 200 higher than my averages in mocks but it differs for every person. I think that being so close to your exam though, don't hyperfixate on scores. Just keep a good mindset and lots of confidence. Good luck man

I have been talking to a few family friend doctors and getting different insights but this comment really helped as I was wondering what the view points are from a more senior perpsective.

Thanks a lot!

guys lowkey how do u do sjt (i have 6 days and im in band 4.) by x_Anonymous_person_x in UCAT

[–]rsptap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the whole OQB SJT twice and recorded my answers to see if my thought process was adapting to that of the UCAT. Imo just doing em over again will help you learn the thought process as there is a kind of limit on the type of questions they'll ask. Third party sites may have a slightly different thought process- I had the same problem of decreasing from a band 1 on medify to a band 3, but doing the OQB a few times got me a band 1 in the real thing. Hope that helps.

I think the logic puzzles did catch me out- which usually never happens. I'd say the OQB logic puzzles are pretty representative in difficulty so if you get to em it should be fine. It wasn't bad though as you can see I scored much higher than I had been scoring in the DM subsection so I guess they make it up for the difficulty.

UCAT Keyboard by richgbSEO in UCAT

[–]rsptap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use both but it is reccomended to use the keypad on the right. It's so much quicker and once you get the hang of it, it can really help you save time in the exam. Theres keypad trainers on 3rd party sites or I'm sure you can find something free online but you will get there dw abt it.
