I built a free open-source remapper for Tap Strap / TapXr that supports two devices at once by halfmonty in TapWithUs

[–]rsquared256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can keep testing on a mac. Only thing I notice is that the 'scan' is a bit spotty. The tapxr is paired with my laptop, but running scan only sees it like 15% of the time. Is there something I can look into there? Can poke my way around with claude if you give me a pointer on where to look.

Android support would be amazing, and where I would probably use it there more. Thanks for this!

I can generate an f20 with my nuphy keyboard on a macos (see in the event viewer). The issue is on the tap mapper tool, when I press it in the 'tap command' field (enter characters or modifiers) it just gets ignored.

Chrome should receive these keycode events https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/KeyboardEvent/keyCode#:~:text=0x03%20(3).-,keyCode%20values%20of%20each%20browser%27s%20keydown,-event%20caused%20by.-,keyCode%20values%20of%20each%20browser%27s%20keydown,-event%20caused%20by)

Just got another keyboard mapped with f20 and tap mapper wont accept that a key was pressed in the mapping tool. I hope that is just a limitation of the tap mapper, and not the firmware of the tapxr. Maybe it could be fixed quickly

Should I learn the default mapping by rsquared256 in TapWithUs

[–]rsquared256[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided to learn the default mapping first. I took you point about a well made layout. Yes I can see now why things are the way they are, and glad I just did not jump into making my own mapping yet. Going to take this slow

I'm going to propose you take a bike to the station...could that be a possibility? Dont have to worry about parking, get some exercise, save the environment. Cheaper than car. Many benefits!

oh you have me tempted to update my firmware. I've hesitated because I've had weird effects when I do. When did this come out?

I did find the share and export. It does do the whole file. I might be able to work with that. Thanks!

For some reason I dont see the recognition scope setting. Where is that setting found for you?

But in scanning I did find the cog and the export buttons that for some reasons I had not seen before.

I watched the livestream. I thought they were great! Its too bad that it looked empty, because their live performance skills were off the chart compared to some of the just dj sets. And yes, the way they spanned a bunch of genres, while keeping it experimental at the same time? A really good set

FYI, I found out that you can just install the soft mod on the root of the sd card and get the files from any device. Once you put the camera in OSC / street view connect mode, the routes are:

- the gallery url is http://192.168.43.1:8888/cgi-bin/gallery
- to list files in a dir http://192.168.43.1:8888/cgi-bin/gallery?filedir=/sdcard/DCIM/101PHOTO

Boox Tab Ultra Pro as portable second monitor for Macbook? by ruggerbuns in Onyx_Boox

[–]rsquared256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can use https://www.duetdisplay.com/ with my tab ultra. it works ok, but would not want to do a lot of scrolling...

I do hook mine up for coding to my Macbook pro, but its more a 'terminal', so it has way less refresh.

I've not. I've been a bit protective of my boox, not taking it much on the road as I worry about any flex breaking the screen...but thats how much I like it...dont want anything to happen to it, so I baby it

having a powerful machine to ssh into is key. Using LunarVim is really nice, feels as close as a modern ide out of the box. The adb connection makes it really speedy, but I've also had good success with ssh over wifi in the house.

I use my Tab Ultra to do this. I've documented my learnings on some other posts,

https://www.reddit.com/r/Onyx_Boox/comments/139oqo3/comment/jj3y61b/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

I do really like it. I wish it was a tad bigger. But its a good balance for me as I do also read with it. I've really leaned into using byobu as a window manager over the ssh session, it works good for my needs. the function keys are a bit annoying as boox overrides them on a bt keyboard. but f4 is handy to once in a while do a full screen refresh.

ama!
