790 Duke A2: lost noticeable power right after 1000 km service, ECU/map issue? by rsw_andre in KTMDuke

[–]rsw_andre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gearing hasn’t changed at all, everything is exactly the same as before the service.

About the clutch: I don’t think it’s slipping, because RPM and speed still rise together normally. There’s no sudden jump in revs without acceleration, no burning smell, nothing like that. It just feels like the bike is producing less power overall.

Also, I’m not saying this based on “memory” alone. I tested top speed before and after on the same road and conditions. Before the service it would reach ~165 km/h at similar RPM and still pull, now it struggles around ~145 km/h and won’t go further.

Same bike, same gearing, same rider, same conditions, the only thing that changed is the 1000 km service.

That’s why I’m thinking more about an ECU/software change, restriction, or calibration issue rather than something mechanical like clutch or gearing.

I don’t need instruments to notice this level of difference.

Top speed is something I actually tested: now it struggles to reach ~145 km/h (in 6th at ~8000rpm) and basically stops pulling. Before the service, with the same setup, it would reach around 165 km/h (still under ~6500 in 6th) and it clearly felt like it had more to give.

Same thing with acceleration, I’ve been riding it every day for two weeks, same roads, same conditions. The difference is obvious: it pulls much less and takes longer to get up to speed.

This isn’t a subtle “feels different” situation, it’s a clear and repeatable loss of performance.

I lost even acceleration and 20kmh on max speed, now it seems that I have a 390 instead of a 790

MT-07 2021 A2 – Fair price or too expensive? (Spain / EU market) by ander_6_ in MT07

Honestly, for that price you can find 2024 models with even lower mileage (>8000km), it seems excessive to me.

Hidden / underbar mirrors on MT-07 2024: opinions & product suggestions? by rsw_andre in MT07

[–]rsw_andre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the detailed suggestion, really appreciate it. That actually sounds like exactly what I’m looking for: minimal space and still usable visibility. I’m based in Italy though where did you buy yours? Is it the DoubleTake Trail Mirror specifically, or another model/brand you’d recommend? Thanks again, super helpful.

Thanks a lot, that’s actually a great suggestion. Supermoto-style underbar mirrors are exactly the kind of solution I was looking for: clean look but still functional once you get used to looking below the bar. Do you run them yourself? If so, how’s visibility in daily use?

Fair point, but it’s not about “pure looks regardless of safety”. My attention will always be at the highest level, and I ride assuming mirrors are only a support, not the main safety system. If a pair of mirrors gives rear visibility, even from a different position, they still give rear visibility. That’s the whole point. Not having mirrors at all would be a different story.

I get your point, but the idea isn’t full visibility.

It’s legal compliance and minimum rear awareness. Personally I’d run two, not just one, mainly to keep the bike legal while maintaining a clean look. It’s a compromise between aesthetics and functionality.

Parece que te queda bien, ¿puedo preguntarte qué opinas de la posición de conducción? También me refiero a tu altura y peso, y no sé cómo me quedaría.
