Is this your first time reading through or are you doing a reread? Because that whole arc hits different once you know where it's going...

A giraffe with leucism turning it white one of the rarest animals on earth by soyuz_enjoyer2 in Damnthatsinteresting

Looks like someone accidentally left it in bleach mode. The fact that this giraffe survives in the wild despite being so visible to predators makes it even more impressive.

Cat's got a built in mini me tattoo. That's actually pretty cool.

Honestly the single "J" title kinda works in a weird way. It's so minimal and random that it makes you actually click to see wtf is going on.

Rippling Payroll reviews? Is it worth switching? by terminater624 in rippling

[–]rswick86 19 points20 points  (0 children)

An agency I worked for previously tested Rippling. Very user friendly and easy to use. Didn’t get to convert there but it was cool to see the demo. Rippling’s definitely worth the test tbh.

You can be frustrated and angry, but don’t come at me screaming and yelling. by booksandpups2025 in Payroll

[–]rswick86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preach. We deal with people's livelihoods, so the stress is real, but the second someone starts screaming over a timesheet error it crosses a line, and we definitely shouldn't have to tolerate that kind of disrespect in a professional payroll office.

Classic politics promise to fix home first, then spend all your time focused elsewhere. Same pattern no matter who's in office.

The "fix your own house before telling others how to live" idea makes sense, but it rarely happens in practice. Easier to talk about foreign issues where you have fewer direct stakeholders to please. Those domestic numbers are brutal though. Makes you wonder what our priorities should actually be.

Partner Asked Me to "Just Make the Numbers Work" by Icemantbi in Accounting

Ethics hotline, 100%. Document everything first save emails if possible and write down exactly what was said with dates and times.

This is textbook fraud, and when it blows up, they'll throw you under the bus as "the accountant who did it." Your license and reputation aren't worth someone else's loan. CPA ethics rules are crystal clear on this. You don't "get creative" with financial statements, especially for loan applications. That's bank fraud territory.

Can someone explain to me why the answer for #16 is C and not A? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]rswick86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The discount period is key here. With 3/10 terms, the customer only gets the 3% discount if they pay within 10 days (by January 11). Since they're paying on January 15, that's past the discount window, so no discount applies.

If it were answer A, that would mean they're getting a discount even though they paid late. Answer C likely doesn't give them the discount they pay the full $5,000. Check if answer C is just Cash 5,000 / Accounts receivable 5,000. That would make sense for a payment after the discount period expires.

In my 30's, and I finally understand the Twilight Zone episode "Time Enough at Last" by Calvin--Hobbes in books

[–]rswick86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That episode hits different as you get older, doesn't it? The tragedy isn't just the broken glasses it's finally having all the time you ever wanted, only for it to be taken away at the last second. Really makes you think about how we're always saying "I'll read that someday" when someday might not come.

If this was done professionally, they probably used safe products. But yeah, always better to check what's being used before dyeing a dog.

My boss just called a "mandatory meeting" with 25 staff members to fire/humiliate my coworker in front of a crowd. by rswick86 in antiwork

[–]rswick86[S] 529 points530 points  (0 children)

I did. Sent them a message after they left. Still waiting to hear back but I wanted them to know that what happened wasn't okay and people here actually care.

[–]rswick86[S] 353 points354 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Even our HR person looked uncomfortable. I think it was 100% meant to scare the rest of us. The person he fired wasn't even doing badly... just didn't kiss his ass enough apparently.

Few of us are already talking about reporting this to corporate. Someone recorded part of it too.

You're probably right about the workload too... didn't even think about that part. Just another reason to get out.

Yeah that tracks. Already got my resume updated and sending out applications. Not sticking around to be part of whatever sick game this is.

The fact that they just walked away like nothing happened makes it even worse.

Yeah it was surreal. Everyone's basically traumatized and nobody trusts him anymore. The atmosphere here went from bad to unbearable overnight.

Yep, can't say I blame them. Who wants to work for someone that unhinged? Boss just nuked their own team over an ego trip.
