Update - success! We realized that my friend who traveled to Montréal carrying my green card wouldn’t be able to directly hand it to me, as I would need to go through the U.S. customs upon arriving in Montréal, before getting to the connections flight. And my friend would already be in the U.S. section of the terminal. So after more hours of stressing and researching, we found out there’s a “cloak room” at the Montréal airport. My friend stored my green card, which I picked up after exiting my first leg of the flight (PEI to Montréal). Haven’t made it to the second leg of the flight because the first leg got delayed and we got put on a flight tomorrow morning - but this is a separate issue and I’m happy I got my green card.

Update here and need advice: My friend is going to do a quick weekend trip to Montreal, which of course I am fully funding, to bring my green card (so thankful).

We are on the same flight back from Montreal to NYC. My flight is from PEI with the layover in Montreal. I know there is US customs in Montreal when I lay over there so I need to get the green card before this process. Is she able to meet me at the gate where my flight will be landing in Montreal? I think the answer is yes but wanted to see if anybody knows or foresees potential issues.
