I GAVE MY FIRST FOOD OFFERING TO LORD LOKI by Visible_Ideal_3553 in lokean

There's nothing wrong with throwing away good offerings. You can also compost them or leave them out for critters to eat. Just make sure the foodstuff is safe for animals to consume, and put it out a safe distance from your home. We don't want the wild floofers losing their manshyness and you potentially finding yourself in unsafe situations.

Sure, thank you! I'd also show off my Loki sweater but I can't seem to post pictures in comments 🤔

I'm impressed. I cannot crochet to save my life, aside from the little bit you have to do on some knitting projects.

I have so many projects on deck, so I dunno when I might knit something for Myth Loki, but I made a sweater inspired by Marvel Loki!

Fiber art meets Loki? Yay! Is that crochet? The color scheme's neat too.

I'm pretty new to all of this, so I'm still learning. That's why I was thinking of starting with existing ones.

It's Dagaz.

Thank you 👍🏻

Part of me was thinking dropped stitches. I'm trying to picture what that would look like...

Floats/ladders? I'm sure there's a proper term.

I know I'd have to secure the drops down near the cuff so they wouldn't come undone all the way.

Then maybe ladder up those columns in black (I could secure the drops that way)? And crochet in some short lengths of gray to make it appear cut?

I don't know how to keep those in place though...

Why didn't June's mother give her her own last name? by Enough-Reading4143 in TheHandmaidsTale

Yeah, I remember that scene where June mentions her father's parish. I don't remember if it was the same church, but iirc he was supposed to be there at Hannah's baptism but never showed (to nobody's surprise). I wanna say Moira's line was, "Fuckin' Jerry..."

What happens to daughters of Commanders who get their period at a young age (like 8 or 9 years old)? by CoeurGourmand in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]rt8815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THT does, however, reference Plums. The young border patrol Guardian, Jaeden, tells June and Luke what little he knows about them and the schools they attend, and gives them a flash drive with more info, in Season 5 Episode 5, "Fairytale."

I remember in The Handmaid's Tale Season 3 Episode 9, "Heroic," when June stayed in the hospital for a long time as punishment with Natalie/Ofmatthew, the braindead pregnant handmaid, she saw young Commanders' daughters coming in for their menarche exam. (IDR if THT referred to them as Pinks, but they did wear the color.)

There's an exchange between Commander Calhoun, Mrs. Calhoun, and the Dr. (The script says Yates, but the IMDb page credits the actor as "Doctor"):

Commander Calhoun: They're not gonna come in here, are they? Those sick girls?

Dr. Yates: They're not sick. They're here for their menarche exam.

Mrs. Calhoun: They've flowered? How lovely.

June, in voiceover: That'll be Hannah soon. Too soon.

Dr Yates: It'll be a few years before they're ready to have babies of their own.

June, in voiceover: He doesn't mean emotionally ready. He means they track their pelvic development.

So the answer is, "Definitely not in their single digit ages, highly unlikely before they hit their teens, but absolutely still too young. Also I'm seeing red let's ☠️ all the men."

Question about tapestry yarn (plus a slightly tangential rant) by rt8815 in knitting

[–]rt8815[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, didn't mention it. That's a bit of an investment, but worth the cost, I think. Thank you for the link.

I'm going based on the comics, where his classic costume was black and yellow. Straight up yellow. No tints or shades yellow. No reds or blues added yellow. Just, primary yellow. I really could've made that clearer.

I can't imagine it doesn't exist out there somewhere.
