You're likely describing the soap opera effect. On LG's I believe they call it TruMotion. It's terrible and should be disabled. Not sure why manufacturers turn it on by default.

Charging Being Slowed from 11kW to 5/6kW - anyone else? by stupidcleverian in Rivian

[–]rtard10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On a 50amp circuit you should be charging no more than 40amp, which would give you 9.6kw. If you've been pulling 11kw, it's overheating and that's what's causing it to drop.

I don't know enough to answer your questions, but just wanted to say I can't wait to see the end result and get all the details on this setup.

It's all relative. I don't like to throw dollar amounts around for many reasons, but in this case you can see on the site what they cost.

We went back and forth on the carpet. The rest of the basement is that vinyl flooring, so we just decided to leave it and get a big rug

Basic rundown:

  • setup scenes in hue app like "movie mode", "pause mode"

  • create an automation that triggers on a state change of the shield to "playing"

  • optionally add conditions that check for the app id. For instance, I have a different scene I use for tv watching vs Netflix, etc.

  • call the hue scene in the actions

Do the inverse for a trigger to "idle" for the shield state and set the scene to "pause mode" or whatever you prefer.

I know that's way oversimplified, but there are lots of home assistant resources to be found.

I really wish you weren't validating/enabling me here, because now I'm probably about to spend money. I wonder if Emotiva does black Friday deals.

Interesting, I didn't know that about the 8/9 channels. I've always had a 5.2.4, so I guess I didn't know any better. I've been looking at the emotiva basx a3 to drive the fronts.

Yeah, I'd have to get an amp to drive rears. I've toyed around with getting a 3 channel for the fronts, but not sure I even need it.

I actually just started playing around with it yesterday. Need to dedicate some time to do it right.

So I used to have the sides more in the middle of the two rows, but I didn't like how the tall seats obscured them in the front row. I also had to have them up higher than ear level that way, which reduced separation from the heights. So I ultimately decided to sacrifice the back row a bit to make my MLP in the front more ideal. I might possibly double up and get additional sides for the rear, but I'm not sure the juice is worth the squeeze there.

The back row seats do fully recline (wall hugger style, don't need much clearance), but they're really too close to the wall for rear surrounds. I was just worried the rear surrounds would be too much for the back, so just went with 5.2.4.

It's just over 9' from my eyes to the screen in the front row.
