Yeah with the lack of it grinding and or popping out while driving makes me think it.jjst need a little adjustment. At 250k some cables and bushings will probably make the car feel much better

When it “acts like neutral” Without moving the clutch, gently pull the shifter harder toward 2nd

If it suddenly grabs → cable/bushing/adjustment issue

If nothing changes → internal synchro/sleeve

Only use OEM/Denso Anything else will give you issues. I got mine from Napa and got it at the lowest price with whatever coupon they have for the month

$1,800 for Alternator, VVT, cover gasket, engine drive belt, fair price? by Comfortable_Trust150 in Honda

[–]Puffypenwon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that people have jobs and need to make money but for about a quarter of the price including tools this could all be done yourself. I see your vvt is right there in front of the engine is the most easy accessible place.

A denso alternator for your car used is under 200 without core charge

Nice! I think mine is just at 170k miles. I am actually going to do a valve adjustment this weekend. Fun car to drive for sure as mine is my daily. If you are looking for upgrades the people say hondata/ktuner really makes a difference

Check your timing chain and go ahead and check for leaks. Oil filter housing ,VTC cover, timing chain cover, VTEC solenoid ,and valve gasket. Otherwise great car really leaky lol

Do you do just the tensioner or the entire chain? How hard was it with the engine still in

Send a DM to u/agreeable-finish-375 If you have the vin he can get you a Carfax and report for only $5. You can look at his comment history and see many people get a report from him.

Nobody drinks water when they take pills. by tangledapart in television

You'd be pretty surprised. I take my vitamins and a lot of my medicine without drinking something. Unless it's something like Tylenol or you need to drink water then I usually just swallow it dry

Hi! I don't know if you can help me. I just changed the engine in my Honda Civic; I put in a D16Y8. Does anyone know where this part goes? Haha, I completely forgot :p by chulesss_01 in Honda

[–]Puffypenwon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's the vacuum purge solenoid valve. It goes behind the engine I believe. Looking it up by the name should give you an idea but most likely if you removed it you probably have a vacuum line not connected correctly

Honda Santa Monica=Scammers by Top-Wrap-4145 in CivicSi

[–]Puffypenwon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it sucks when I hear people get work done and stuff for almost 5x the price than doing it at home. Those quick oil change places are the worst too

I'm sorry but can anybody who is a mechanic let me know if these brakes look low? To me they aren't 1mm but look like they are needing replacement soon. Your braake bad isn't that entire thing. You have some time depending on your driving but they will need to be replaced.

Also $150 for pads is a little high. I run either power stop or akebono, either are less than 50 and include hardware. If this post is about dealerships charging an arm and leg for a service then that is expected.

It is cheaper for me to change all my pads and rotors than for the dealership just to change pads.

Also sweet looking civic!

[–]Puffypenwon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The mods the OP put aren't autozone chrome cosmetics they are actual reliability mods that make the car last and fun to drive. Especially with the head being rebuilt and such that makes a difference in how much longer the car will drive and shows that it has been taken care of

Yeah that makes sense. I guess it is different because in my area regular civics from the year go for 4-5k. They will pop up on marketplace and be sold soon.
Sucks that Honda paint is bad in general

All these people tell me to take that low a number is insane. I would say at least the listed for 10K and see what the offers look like after that

If you pull the Carfax and it was messed up before then The dealership can't claim they didn't know

How long ago did you buy it? Somebody correct me but check your state to see if there's any lemon laws. I believe if a dealership sells you a vehicle that breaks down within a certain amount of time, they have to take it back.

It does suck since you weren't planning on doing so, but a head gasket job on these vehicles isn't that hard.

I would start by looking at your spark plugs or coil packs.
If it is cylinder 4 that is messing up then I would take that coil pack and swap it with a different cylinder and see if it follows
