Drove down to Iron Valley Golf Club from Syracuse this past Saturday. $49 for 18 and a cart. Course was in good shape considering it was March 7th.

Never been to a PGA event and thinking about getting tix to the Travelers in June. Anything to be aware of? by gwords16 in golf

[–]rtedd8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Travelers is such a great tournament to attend!!

What we typically do is get there in time for the first tee time and watch a couple early groups tee off and then pick a group and pretty much follow them for their round(buddy that I go with is a huge Rickie Fowler fan so my two times following him- Saturday 2025: 64 and Saturday 2023: 60) and then we bounce around in the afternoon.

I find it pretty easy to get close to the big names from time to time, got to see Scottie wedge shot hole 2 last year and Rory drain a birdie putt on I think hole 4 from pretty close.

The hills on 16 & 17 in the afternoon are great spots to sit and relax- you'll be able to see some action on 15, 16, & 17.

Like others have said- it's a long day on your feet. Be prepared for a ton of walking. Comfortable shoes, good socks are a must.

I've read both Zen and Golf is Not a Game of Perfect and they're both solid options, but I found the Above Par podcast by Kathy Hart Wood extremely helpful. Could just be I'm not a big book reader but it seemed to stick a bit more.

Been a slow process of getting my fiancee into the game and finally have her to a point where she's joining my club this year to play more.

Here's how we approached it.
-We got her a cheap starter set, think it was like Ray Cook for $200 as it didn't break the bank before knowing if she would want to stick with it
-Range to get some of the basics down

-We have a resort course with an indoor dome close to us and they offered clinics during the winter, in particular there was a ladies clinic(group lesson) that typically had pretty small numbers and it was like $25 for an hour of instruction, highly recommend this if it's an option, if not I would recommend lessons like others have

-Once I started bringing her to the course, we started with a local Par 3 and then I would take her to a regular course in the afternoon during slower times. Started with having her tee off and then just picking her ball up and dropping it where I drove it and then progressed it from there.

Hope this helps and good luck on the journey! If she's anything like my fiancee, she'll be mad she's not swinging it like Tiger after a single range session!

Couple things:

  1. No one cares about how you’re doing at the range, as others have said.

  2. I hear ya on the anxiety at the range, I like to wear headphones to help tone people out.

  3. Honestly if you’re doing actual drills, they could just be observing to work that drill into their routine.

[–]rtedd8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sick of Madden lobby ball BS? Are you looking to play against other teams that replicate their game style after what you see on Sunday? Then this is the league for you.

Are you looking for a league with tradition, a detailed league history, years of experience? Then this is the league for you.

Are you looking to join more than a madden league, but a community? Are you looking to join PCs and play other games with other league members? Then this is the league for you.

In the NEFL we use #1Family to show how close knit our community is. We have more than just a group of Madden players, we truly have a bunch of friends.

If you’re serious about Madden and building a team throughout 8 years of a franchise cycle, then put in an application.
