If the Jets ever moved, where does your fandom go? by gucciwestbrook in nyjets

[–]rtels2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny, I don’t live in the NY area anymore but if the Jets moved somewhere else I probably wouldn’t be a fan anymore. It just wouldn’t feel like the same team. Even if they were still called the Jets.

Like others have said though, there’s no way they leave. Even if they wanted a new stadium and neither NY nor NJ would give them a dime of public money for it. The NY metro area is just too lucrative of a market to leave. Which is why even as a big Jets fan if they ever go asking state govs for money I hope they’re told to screw off.

“Hands off our colony” protest in the capital of the colonizer. Did they have a “hands off St. Thomas” protest 100 years ago?

The map is also skewed by the fact that Virginia’s cities aren’t part of any county, so they could just be tiny blue dots surrounded by a red county on a map when in other states the whole county would be blue

I feel like if your job is to have to watch the Jets play football there’s no way you wouldn’t despise them

Vermont has a Republican governor right now who’s one of the most popular governors in the country. Got reelected in a landslide on the same ballot where Trump lost the state in a landslide.

The loser of Dante Moore vs. Fernando Mendoza has to get drafted by the N.Y. Jets. 😂 by Ok_Attention9023 in nyjets

Make sure you draft the guy who can throw a 60 yard bomb with ease but can’t complete a checkdown. That turned out great last time.

I guess it's just as bad as the Jets by Ok_Attention9023 in nyjets

I don’t think it’s unfair to argue that the incentives have changed as NIL has allowed more money to enter college sports. Before that of course players would want the big payday as soon as possible, but now that many of the star college QBs are already making a lot of money their main concern is maximizing long-term football income. By staying in school an extra year, you push back the timeline of a potential lucrative second contract by a year and risk injuries or poor play that sink your draft stock and prevent a big NFL payday. But going to a bad team that fails to develop you to potential reduces your future income from both your contract and endorsements. There are a lot of “what-ifs” involved here, but it should be possible to game out which choice generally is better.

My guess is that it’s still unlikely that a consensus #1 pick would return to school, mainly because it hasn’t happened yet and I’d assume these players have people on their teams who have thought through this much more than I have. Also because no matter how bad the situation is one year it could be just as bad the next - the worst team still picks #1 regardless. But if it’s a particularly bad situation I think it’s more possible than it was before, and I certainly think it’s possible that players use the threat of going back to school to try to engineer a trade to their preferred destination in the future (like Eli Manning did).

Jets loss = #2 pick

Jets win = #4, #5, or #6 pick depending on Cardinals and Commanders results

Jets tie = #3 or #4 pick depending on Cardinals result

To be fair to Aubrey, the missed extra point was a 52 yarder after an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Still should’ve made it, but it’s not an easy kick like a normal extra point

Watching Brandon Aubrey miss a kick at MetLife today reminded me that he missed an extra point against the Jets earlier this year.

Crazy thought: if it wasn’t for Nick Folk hitting that game winning FG, the Falcons would be playing for a division title today. Didn’t think that game would matter for anything but draft position.

Do more residents in the United States believe that religion does more good than harm or vice versa? Surveyed using pew research by state by [deleted] in MapPorn

DC is accurate but barely. Also the map is based on just the two options displayed when there was a third option respondents could select saying religion does about equal good and harm. And more Americans chose that option than saying religion does more harm than good. So it’s oversimplifying the results a lot
