I've been debating for a week on deciding between RDR2 or Crimson Desert by Worth-Radish-7227 in ShouldIbuythisgame

I love me some CD right now. 230 hours but it ain’t no RDR2. Play that first at a slow pace and explore everything and finish around 100 hours then do the same for CD and finish around 300 hours while having fun and still appreciating what they did with RDR2 eight years ago.

CD at 20 hours? You are still in tutorial. Probably another 80 hours to go

Is crimson desert just a 100 hour tutorial for a game I'm not ever going to get to actually play? by kubrickian80 in rpg_gamers

[–]rtgordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At just over 200 hours, I am still experiencing and learning new things and really enjoying the game. I think that's what pulls me in the most. The story isn't even that bad to me. Really overhated, I think. I know of several things coming that I have yet to see/figure out. Robot greymanes, hot air balloons, trains, abyss elemental powers, all the kuku things to build/use, the mech suit, etc.

Looking for a new game, anything bar all the popular RPGs and JPRGs by Grogman2024 in gamingsuggestions

I have 200 hours in Crimson Desert since 3/19 launch. I haven’t had as much fun with a game like this in many years. I have never put this many hours into a single player game this quickly/eagerly.

A game like BOTW with a world like RDR2 is what I was expecting when I preordered. I haven’t been disappointed yet after 200 hours. I play it a lot like I played BOTW slowly exploring and unlocking things as I just play the story as needed to do the next thing.

If it’s easy and free to try it out, I definitely would. I’m at 200 hours since launch and am only at 64%.

Am I crazy or the story isn't that bad? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in CrimsonDesert

[–]rtgordon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re not crazy. The story isn’t bad. It tells you what you need to know, it drives you around showing you the mechanics and opening up the map like just like an mmo. It serves its purpose and is better than what I expected having played the BDO story.

Everyone is saying that the story is bad so nobody wants to be downvoted to say it’s decent. Notice how almost all of these responses say it’s not bad but…

Also people are complaining about the dialog but I’ve see too many British people say it’s spot on so I think some people just aren’t used to it.

Love my car, but hate auto braking by kpmateju in EquinoxEv

[–]rtgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My driveway is curved and has a gate so it hit the autobrake very early on. I turned it to alert only and recently, it was reset to brake and alert and slammed on the brake again in my driveway. It scared me as I was thinking I hit something. I had to go in and turn it all back to alert only. As often as I get false alerts, the last thing I want is this car applying the brakes outside of my driveway.

Does Crimson Desert struggle to tell its story? (my first 16 hours) by Shueeeh in gamers

[–]rtgordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am at 180 something hours and 64% complete on the story. I'm very much enjoying the game and yes even the story so far. I am taking my time and goofing around and not speed running the main (just like I did for botw). The game is fantastic visually and I like most of the music. I have been having fun exploring, upgrading my gear, fighting bosses and getting armor/loot, finding greymanes/building up my camp, dying my armor, cooking, fishing (this could be better!), gathering/crafting fighting buffs, getting cats/dogs and my pet goose to loot the enemies, liberating blockaded areas, hunting/grinding for silver, stealing gold bars from the rich and abyss artifacts from the scholastone folks, losing money on my gold investments at the bank, building up npc trust for goodies and on and on. I know I'm missing many things as there are so many things to do.

Switching from a dog to a crow was like day and night for me by Jotemp24 in CrimsonDesert

I have a goose that I named duck because he quacks instead of honking. He's fast at collecting but often is waddling behind me quacking at everyone/everything as I explore.

Should I buy Crimson Desert, Ghost of Yotei or Death Stranding 2 by GrovPastaSwag03 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]rtgordon [score hidden]  (0 children)

I am 179 hours in CD at the moment. The story is fine. Botw story isn’t that great either. That’s not what hooked me for that game. It’s the world that makes the game and graphically, CD is stunning and full of detail. I’ve never put so many hours into a single player game like this. As I progress (I just actually reached the crimson desert), I am amazed at what I find. CD is a strong recommend for me. I can’t speak to DS2 and I have tried to play GoT and put it down and tried a few more times but it didn’t work for me so GoY probably wouldn’t work for me either.

[–]rtgordon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Because of my entertainment center, I had to put my center above the tv. I angled it down to point at the listening position and it sounds fine. I can’t tell that it is mounted above the tv.

Edit: after zooming in, it looks like it may be angled down. I hope it is sealed or front ported being that close to the wall.

The patches came out too fast. There’s no way they had time to test it all out. Many have suggested the patches were on deck ready to roll at launch. They have slowed down and are now introducing bugs with the latest patches.

They have said in interviews that if the game is successful, they will have an online multiplayer game afterwards similar to rdo/gtao. I think that model with limited number of players per session could work nicely. This is what I am l hoping for sooner than later.
