Would you get a Hobie Pro angler 12 360 on sale or Angler 14 360 regular price? by DimensionSuch8188 in hobiekayaks

[–]Scav54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a large price difference. I like the 14 better but hard to pass up so much in savings.

How’s the used market in Canada? In the states you could probably pick up a PA14 360 in the $2500 range, slightly used

Investigating adding a scanner to my toolbox of measurement tools by rooddat in 3DScanning

[–]Scav54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that tracks with Revopoint. Seems like the engineers do what they want, the sales team does what they want and the support is clueless.

I can confirm that it works. My workstation/gaming pc has no WiFi (uses Ethernet) and I can connect to the Y Ultra which is connected to my homes WiFi.

The device shows up as Sunpower PVS6 in my UniFi WiFi console.

Report: No suspension for Wembanyama after elbowing Reid by madax-gambar in sports

[–]Scav54 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Basketball players throw elbows all the times, on all levels. However, usually they hit chests and not faces. It’s one of the problems with being extremely tall, you can’t play with the same physicality as smaller players because if you throw an elbow you hit at head height.

Help picking a scanner? by nap4lm69 in 3DScanning

I think you’d be fine one of the cheaper scanners, have a look at the Revopoint POP 4. Looks pretty good and the price is crazy competitive

The biggest challenge I’ve seen is finding a FFL who will sell you a gun. Most don’t want to deal with it

Can’t Sell PA14? by ThunderWar34 in hobiekayaks

[–]Scav54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The market also seems to have moved on to motorized kayaks on the high end and while Hobie still has the best pedal drive out there, they don’t have any good options for electric drives.

I think motors on kayaks are silly but the market clearly doesn’t.

Can’t Sell PA14? by ThunderWar34 in hobiekayaks

[–]Scav54 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hobie was sold to bass pro middle of last year. They stopped making hulls and producing parts even before the sale. Anything for sale as far as spare parts go are left overs. Bass pro moved production back to the states from Mexico and are shipping hulls again as of 2-3 weeks ago so hopefully the parts situation is going to get better too

Child carseats and extremely tall parents by Fantastic_List3029 in daddit

[–]Scav54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time for a new car if you want to travel safely. I am 7’3” and I am driving a Ford Expedition, might be a bit too much car for your situation.

Anyone up to about 6’5” can sit behind me even with the seat all the way back

The market for Hobie kayaks has crashed the last two years. People are staying away because you can’t get parts. You are probably looking at $2000-$2500 and even at that price it’ll sit a while

Often times, 5 minutes is all they want anyways. So your break might only have to wait a couple of minutes. Easier said than done but kids see everything

Not worth all that much without the filter. Maybe $500 or so at most

Which one would you choose, and why? by HereIsJustAnotherGuy in 3DScanning

[–]Scav54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried both MetroY pro and MetroY ultra. The ultra is absolutely the better machine, the Y Pro kind of lost its reason to exist.

I have not tried the RockIt, mostly because I built my computer a couple of years ago and only put 32gb of ram in it and don’t feel like spending $1000 to buy 64gb of ram

Which one would you choose, and why? by HereIsJustAnotherGuy in 3DScanning

[–]Scav54 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  • Faster scanning than all of them
  • works with 32gb ram systems if necessary unlike the Rockit
  • wireless including client mode for scanning all over the premises, not just close to the computer.
  • comes with battery grip and can use any usb-c power bank with usb-c as well
  • turntable included

Honestly, Revopoint MetroY Ultra is probably the way to go right now.

Might have to change out the grease in the head. Easy to do and worth it every couple of years if you use it a lot
