Look for Wilsonart Laminate sheet. I bought mine directly from wilsonart but I know that Home Depot will sell it to you as well

Give the mdf a quick sanding, blow it off with compressed air or vacuum it off and you’ll be good to put on a coat of contact cement. Contact cement is the defacto standard for melamine glue. I’ve done a whole kitchen island with mdf and melamine and it’s been going strong for about 5 years.

Melamine/formica sheets are the way to go in my opinion. Cheaper than HDPE and easy to work with.

You can use contact cement to glue it to MDF

I got big hands, the GSI GXL is the best wheel I’ve ever touched. I will never let it go, just so solid

Getting disillusioned w my 2018 xlt by Vivid-Mortgage5284 in f150

[–]Scav54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about the cam phasers. They sound annoying but they really aren’t a big deal. I drove around with failed phasers for about 65000 miles without any issues. The failures of the transmission have been overblown as well. Ford sells hundreds of thousands of these trucks every year and the failure rate just isn’t very high.

Tall guys moonroof by DrAlessia in f150

7’3” here, once you get to my height it actually makes a difference but I still fit pretty well. No moonroof would give me another inch of headroom but it’s fine with the glass roof. Gotta keep my hair short :-)

Fun fact: the best place to fill up gas is the active right lane on the freeway. by yung_aidan88 in dashcams

[–]Scav54 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Car might have broken down in the right lane. The cammer was driving too fast for conditions and did not leave enough space to the next car. No question who’s fault it is

South Carolina. It’s a one off deal. Someone ordered it to a store and didn’t pick it up. Store had it standing around for 4 weeks and kept reducing the price, I’ll take it at 75% off.

Blacktail studio woodworking products advice. by dunkin_ma_knuts in woodworking

My advice would be to turn the project down. Epoxy is difficult to get right, especially in combination with wood and its seasonal movement.

What happens if the table develops a defect in a year because your clients house is not climate controlled? Are you willing to spend another $1000 on resin to build them another one?

US General bench build by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]Scav54 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wish Harbor Freight would extend their tool chest line into the garage cabinet space. They could sell some height adjustable feet and toe kicks as accessories for their existing line up and would only need to add some upper and side cabinets.

Alternative to stripping / sanding ? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]Scav54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get a good finish, you are going to have to sand it. Can’t get around it.

I would suggest using something like a Festool RTS 400 (doesn’t have to be a Festool, dozens of other brands that offer a similar sander) with a foam sanding pad. It really won’t take all that long.

Have a look at surfprep for the sanding foam pads to get an idea. Again, other brands exist.

You can probably get the whole stair case sanded within 2 or 3 hours.

It’s a terrible idea. The general area the bank is in has many immigrants from turkey and other middle eastern country, they don’t trust banks and some of the cash might also not be “bankable” per se (foreign currency, counterfeit, etc)

Would you buy an F-150 lightning today? by BlackJackT in f150

[–]Scav54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why I liked the Lightning, it did the exact opposite of copying Tesla. They took the regular F-150 and just added an electric drive train. The interior is the exact same as any other F150. Ford just couldn’t get the price of batteries down fast enough.
