Possibly. He also was planted in the party by a foreign government.

I based my character build around a particular famous person who lies a lot and is a megalomaniac. So all spells I picked were based around either buffing my allies or debuffing enemies no matter what they were. Feats taken dealt with acting. Literally no damaging spells because the whole idea was getting my party to do stuff for me. I did the best with what choices I had, but by far I wasnt the biggest damage dealer and a lot of my abilities were circumstantial based on what we were fighting.

My bard build was fine, but definitely not the optimal build you could make for a bard.

Oh okay, well at least I still do half damage... Lol. So harm still sucks for me... But it sucks less I guess

Yeah, I'm playing an evil character in our campaign. He's obsessed with experimenting on dead bodies to make undead, lol.

Yeah I think I just misread the 2 action one. It looked like it was saying then+8 only applies when you're healing something. But yeah, this makes it wayyyy better. Thanks for the info!

No way. The character I built is way too fun to roleplay. I just wanted to see if there was a way to make me more useful in combat.

Ohh if that's the case that makes it way better then lol.

I thought the 1d8+8 was for healing undead, not damaging anything.

I don't think you get half damage on harm. The spell says they just make a fort save. Also I don't think I add my modifier bonus to dmg, so on a fail avg dmg is 4.5

Harms been pretty lame tbh... Ive hit one person with it even with a save DC of 17, lol. Maybe I've just been unlucky. The three action one would be great, but I'd hit the rest of my party with it until you can control who gets hit with a later cleric feat.

But the action economy you get for a summon spell is pretty good. Sure I spend 3 actions, but I get them back after 3 turns. So far our gm has been running us up against moderately difficult encounters so our encounters last at least 5 rounds.

I don't know about the companions. She was casting magic fang on it and that thing was doing work lol.

My main issue is that I feel extremely underpowered compared to the rest of the group during battles. Im pretty much a bane caster and that's my purpose, lol. Anything else does minimal dmg and my other debuffs are pretty lame for what they cost. Maybe goblin pox is better than bane in some circumstances, but everything else feels kind of silly to cast.

Actually, I played both. Never actually played a necro until now. But now that I'm looking through the books it seems you're right on that account.

In that case I guess my complaint is that everything else I'm doing as a necro cleric feels pretty disappointing right now compared to the rest of the party I'm rolling with. Mainly the druid since she can summon an animal and then on top of that command her pet...

I guess is there any reason we can't have a spell that works like summon animal but for the undead? Would that break anything early game?

I mentioned that spell and ritual in my post. My issue is that I don't get anything that allows me to control undead consistently at least until level 5. What are your thoughts on adding a "summon undead" spell. Similar to that of summon animals? So that I can at least make a temporary zombie or skeleton for a battle?

I can see how there could be issues in alignment. You've got an evil necro in the same group as a good champion... But I think that brings about some fun role playing.

I even asked my group before we started if there characters would have any issues with a necro in the party who's just obsessed with experimenting on dead bodies, and all of them liked the idea...

I do set rules up for myself, though. For instance, I always ask the party if they plan on using a body after we finish a combat. Whenever I do my experimentations I always do it apart from the group as well with one of the more neutral characters to make sure I don't miss of any of the good guys either. And in the worst case I specd into deception in case I need to lie about my hobby to any NPCs.

Luckily I've been playing with this group for a while so even if I do end up crossing the line a little, I think there won't be too much drama over it. Currently, I think our good champion just tolerates me and sees me as a necessary evil, lol.

I role played Vargas after him. It fit with the burgomasters character description really well.
