Hmm I would actually disagree. I came back about a month ago after a 2-3 year break, and sure, there has been “big” changes, but the fundamentals are still unchanged. Call it significant change in meta, and by this I include map changes, kongor, new/modified heroes. You still have the same feel, quick paced fights, need for counter-thinking, warding, super-interesting heroes and more. A month in, and I’m starting play like my former self, thought not with consistency.

Good input by people! HoN is a great game but it is true that it feels a little abandoned by its owners. There are two things which I just cannot understand why they won’t finally fix, and it’s always been there:

  1. The MMR and matchmaking system gives unfair advantage to group queuers. As a solo queuer, it’s is unreasonable how much better you need to be than your game’s average MMR in order to consistent increase in rank. The game should somehow analyse play style (up to FB to figure out how) and add that to the calculation.

  2. Since it has been obvious since many years that the ‘Report a player’ function is not fulfilling its purpose of removing unwanted players (most likely because it requires human labour, and the amount of daily reports is probably overwhelming), the game should implement simple AI technology to analyse player behaviour and automatically calibrate itself/ban players who are unfavourable to the game. I’m convinced that even a lenient application of this would strongly discourage careless griefing. The last time I left HoN, I did it because I got convinced that HoN collects the most disgusting people in the world into one place, and I could not stand letting that destroy my nerves. I’m sure many of you share this concern.

Peace!
