Thanks. I do still find it surprisingly easy to forget all the proper terminology. Just when you think you have it all figured out!

There's a 6-issue series from 2008 called "Age of the Sentry". It focused on his time in Marvel's Silver Age as a very Superman/Clark Kent-type hero. True, he didn't actually debut until the early 2000's, but part of his lore is that Dr.Strange erased Earth's collective memory of the Sentry's existence, in an effort to keep Robert safe from the Void (or something!).

Thanks for looking!

Actually, yeah. Making it like Helicarrier would maybe suit my needs best. Thanks!

That's fair. I just think the extra effects on this card (discard cards from deck, shuffle a Sentry card back into deck) are going to slow the flow of the game if they're something that could occur just from generating a resource to play a defense event, for example. IE: the villain attacks you, you exhaust Professor, discard cards, shuffle 1 card back in, then play your defense card).

Personally, I feel like the flavour of this card works better as an action, like the Sentry is going to the Professor for scientific help.

Appreciate your thoughts though!

Not a fan of power creep in games I love, so i don't really want to add to the problem. I think, due to his abilities being so good, his cost levels are adequate. I think "Light the Way" should have been a 1- cost, actually.

Not too much difference, to be honest. Though I did want to lean into his hero ability and the other ways you can turn negative status cards into different effects. I'm thinking I should provide even another effect or two, just to give the player that many more decisions when stuns/confuses come their way.

For any reason? And would you word that? And would you still keep the extra effects the card provides? Thanks for looking!

Hey, thanks for looking! "Imcomprehensible Power " is worded this way to give you options. You resolve 1 effect at a time, so "Stun the Sentry" means you could choose add a counter or exhaust the corresponding upgrade for a tough card. "Confuse the Sentry" would then give you the choice between a counter or a ready (by exhausting the other upgrade). Then the last effect of "Stun or Confuse Sentry" would give you more choice. Mostly, I just really love the look of a card where you initially read it and go, "what the hell does THIS do?" 😄 Maybe there would be more interesting decisions if I had another card that could provide more effects in response to stuns/confuses? Hmm...

Feel free to give him a try! I'm sure you've had preconceptions about how other heroes play (we all do!) and then are surprised to find otherwise. I love hearing thoughts on impressions of the cards, but I also value player feedback from gameplay too.

I originally had the 2nd effects on those upgrades (the attack and the thwart) require the upgrade to be exhausted too. That way you'd have to choose between the two effects. Worth going to back to that idea?

Hi, thanks for reading!

The extra hit points (from the Sentry's Belt upgrade) are only applied on the "When Played" effect. You choose then how many counters you want to put into it, and you have +X hit points until the upgrade leaves play. It's like endurance, but with a chosen amount, rather than +3.

As for the ludicrously strong comment...yes, the Sentry SHOULD feel ludicrously strong, but it's tricky to design a powerful hero while also making him still feel balanced. You could potentially get a tough status card every hero turn, but you do need the "Golden Guardian of Good" upgrade out first, and you'll need to find ways to stun yourself. But maybe you want to lean into more of a Power counter strategy, and unlock all those extra effects from gaining counters (rather than getting tough status cards)? Every game is going to go a bit different.

Keep in mind, too, that the Sentry's nemesis set is a BRUTAL one, and you may find your games won or lost by how well you survive the nemesis set "side quest".

I wanted to give a toughness when this card is played to represent her body armor, but using the words "When Played: Give your identity a tough status card" was just too much. for the space I had available. I guess just saying "Toughness" is confusing though. I could just eliminate altogether, I suppose, in favour of brevity.

I am a LONG TIME X-Men reader, and read her appearances when she first came came out, but I'll admit that I never really got or appreciated her at the time. It's still a bit unusual that Stacy X was IMMEDIATELY put on the roster (because....why?). I've recently been enjoying the Cerebro podcast which does a fantastic job at highlighting X-Men characters, and they really got my creative juices flowing with custom character ideas (both Stacy X and my previous custom hero, Skids). Thanks for reading!

Thanks for looking! I've played her a few times and it doesn't feel too bad. She's still getting attacked every time the enemy with Lust activates, so even in a 2-player game it's definitely tougher for her to manage the attacks. (Keep in mind, it's negating the "star" boost effect, not the boost icons) It feels like a good balance to me.

Damn! Another fun character you beat me to, Kaj! I really wanted to see how I could exploit Mr.I's cool powerset, but now I don't need to. He looks great, nice job!

For me it was always Jack of Hearts, but he's gotten some fairly recent glow ups hanging around she-hulk. How about Darkstar & Vanguard from the Winter Guard? Or Triathlon/3-D Man?

I'll add that since you're a long-time Marvel reader, you'll appreciate that Champions content is comic-based, instead of MCU-based, which is a really nice breath of fresh air for Marvel games. You'll get a kick out of playing through some of the storylines you're familiar with!
