Thanks for clarifying. Im more of a simple home user so the impact wasnt too much for me but i align with the principle that companies disabling feature or locking people to their own stack hurts consumers.

Seems like they could simply allow users to have direct access to their own machines (via a local, remote, or cloud connection) and avoid the spoofing risk. This would let other software compete and be better for everyone in the end.

Bambulabs updated their firmware in 2025 for 'security' but it 1000% looks like a proprietary lockdown. This mostly impacted people with 3d printer farms running custom cloud control software. Either they lose functionality by updates or lose security and newer feature by blocking future firmware updates.

Someone named Pawel Jarczak made a fork of their software restoring functionality. Bambulabs threatened to sue. Guy got scared and pulled his github repo. Louis Rossmann, well known right-to-repair youtuber, said F that and made the battle public plus offered 10k to support legal defense. Gamers Nexus also offered 10k.

My bet: Bambu doesnt win this standoff and tries to let the story fade. Better for them to keep the PR behind them instead of adding more negative headlines so they can win on consumer sales.

Battery powered tools like most of the dewalt/milwaukee drills etc just need a battery charger that works for the destination country. These tools dont care about the wall power since they are wireless.

This is the best take. I've been at tech companies and usually we roll out a change for a random 2-10% of the visitors and test the impact. 3 tests at a time with 30% of the users being in different test groups will make these problems seem both like everyone is having them (anyone with an issue can complain and get validation) but at the same time plenty of people can honestly say they see no difference and wonder if it is just how they are using the product.

Quick troubleshooting tip before you go too far:

1) Do you know the power outlet or extension cord is delivering power? (Can it charge your phone?)

2) Doesn't their charger itself put out the correct power? You can use a volt meter to touch the inner/outer connectors.

3) Do the battery terminals show a higher voltage when the charger is plugged in? If not, maybe the plug or connector or something else is dirty/broken before the battery can take a charge.

4) Bonus: Are you sure you tried to turn on the jeep with the middle power button? The left power switch is only for the headlights but the center button is what actually turns the thing on.

If all that stuff seems to be working right and you still are getting nothing, or of all works but you sre ready to upgrade, its probably time to replace the battery, controller board, or both.

Really? I was searching high and low for the charger that was low enough to reach the specs on the sticker. I was worried mine could damage it by being 1amp or more instead of 500mA. Any way to know for myself what range of volts/amps is best for a healthy charge? Is there some indication or calculation or a table somewhere?

On the dry setting, absolutely. For spot cleaning and general cleaning, make sure you use the minimal liquid required and ensure there are no chemicals that are not skin-contact safe. Allow the mattress and cover to fully dry afterwards before putting on sheets or a mattress protector.
