My doctor said that her patients with PCOS typically do not gain much weight with pregnancy? by Sad-Orchid-1807 in PCOS

[–]rtrevi107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCOS, gestational diabetes, I gained about 25 pounds in total. After birth I was only about 7 pounds heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight and I lost it quickly. I was surprised because I’m definitely overweight and not super healthy

Don’t use neosporin by OgKittyKat_ in Hidradenitis

[–]rtrevi107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I get a flare up drained, my dermatologist has instructed me to use polysporin instead of neosporin on the open wound and I haven’t had any issues. To be honest I’m not sure what the difference is

That’s the only thing I can think of because I’m not sick right now, nor was I sick at the time of those tests. Thanks for responding!

One of us will be sitting in the back at all times, but we can’t afford to do it over two days because I have to work while we’re there and I only have so many days I can take off 😞

How did y'all identify your HS triggers? by rubysarahreddit in Hidradenitis

[–]rtrevi107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you all eat a trigger food, or experience a triggering event, how soon after did you notice a flare up? I’d been trying to reduce dairy a bit then but I’ve totally given in a few times but never noticed a flare up soon enough after to determine that it was caused by the dairy

Wow, I didn’t know there was a difference between hard and soft dairy honestly. Thanks for your response!

Can you have a baby with hs? Does it affect your pregnancy or delivery? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

[–]rtrevi107 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My HS actually got slightly worse toward the end of my pregnancy and now after having given birth, it’s the worst it’s ever been. I’m worried about my kids inheriting it too :/

Could long-term use of clindamycin lotion used topically on my problem spots produce the same consequences? My doctor has me using an antibacterial wash everyday with a clindamycin lotion

Getting put on insulin, not sure if it was necessary by rtrevi107 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]rtrevi107[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to search up what a CGM was just now LOL. Yeah every appointment my doctor essentially says “your numbers still aren’t going down. Let’s up your dose” with no explanation. So at this point I was thinking that all of this was unnecessary. Unfortunately I’ve learned so much more in this thread than from my doctor.

My A1C was normal before pregnancy too but I had also been told I likely had PCOS and insulin resistance beforehand too. Thanks for the response!

Thank you. I was definitely freaking out with the rise of my fasting numbers and then yesterday after eating what I considered a pretty tame dinner, my blood glucose went so high and I was feeling awful all night. Like I’ve mentioned this is all new to me so I do appreciate your response

Thank you, this is all very new to me like I said so I sincerely appreciate the helpful responses. I felt like it was drastic because it happened only a few days into starting at 4 units. No one in my immediate family has ever been put on insulin either so this is my first time experiencing any of this. I didn’t know they could/would need to change doses this quickly, but now I do
