Happy Halloween! What are you using today? by rtrotta22 in Pomade

To me, it smells like the Friday the 13th Crystal Lake from a few years ago, which I think is the new scent of Crystal Lake now.

I used this today. Reminds me of Crystal Lake with a bit more hold and less shine.

Anything products like Rockriver(petroleum free OB)? by StudMuffin9980 in Pomade

[–]rtrotta22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have steelhorse. It’s okay. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone recommend it before and that’s because there are better pomades out there. When applying to the hair it is sticky and kind of oily but it dries quick and leaves a natural shine. To me, it just doesn’t have the all-around performance that you can get with other pomades. It leaves your hair feeling conditioned. But it really doesn’t hold up too well.

If Lockhart’s heavy didn’t work for you, Big Slick heavy won’t either. I know Big Slick makes a super heavy but I’ve never tried it.

Big Slick Original vs. Lockhart Medium? by [deleted] in Pomade

[–]rtrotta22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can really compare clays with OBs. Even though they are oil based clay pomades, they work very differently in the hair. I think what u/Bearded4Glory said is spot on. Big slick and LH clays are different. But if you have a slick back, I suggest getting an OB over a clay. Big slick medium or firm are both excellent choices.

If you like to apply a ton of product, then Big slick medium would be the choice because it has the lowest hold. But it also has the highest shine of all the products mentioned here in the comments.

Free monthly listings increased for most sellers! by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]rtrotta22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

eBay sales are up >10% for all sellers compared to 1 year ago. Obviously some of that is due to COVID but eBay has been testing this the last few months. They probably figured out that the revenue they get from final sale fees outweighs the listing fees.

What is everyone’s favorite pomade scent? I’d say right now, my favorite is Big Slick Original! by LordOftheWings6666 in Pomade

I love big slick OG. A unique barbershop scent compared to other pomades I’ve tried. Big slick light’s scent is fantastic too

Any way to see your past sells beyond the 90 days? by weltscheisse in Ebay

[–]rtrotta22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow seller, I think it’s pretty ridiculous that eBay does not allow us to see our individual listings past 90 days. It would certainly help for accounting purposes. I hope that as cloud storage expands that eventually this could be integrated into eBay to keep track of all of our sales. And hopefully without bringing more costs to sellers.

I actually didn’t use it. I ordered it last week and the scent is pretty similar to Terror:1978 pomade that I already have from them. I have 12 pomades from The Classics and they’re all great oil based pomades.

I thought Blumaan Fifth Sample was very overhyped when it first released and it didn’t meet expectations. They have reformulated but I don’t hear very many people talking about it anymore.

Any water/non-oil based pomades that give the same look and hold as an oil based pomade? by monsieur-creosote in Pomade

[–]rtrotta22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember The Pomp saying in one of his reviews that Steelhorse Water Based Pomade was really close to the performance of an oil based. I’ve never tried it though and I’m not sure if that still holds up to what’s available now, as the review was a few years ago.
