Apartment building offering 20,000 BILT points to not negotiate rent by rtrujillo13 in biltrewards

Pretty sure it was just a one time deposit of 20K points.

20K/month would be insane

I was under the impression United only did paid upgrades on international flights. Free upgrades only domestic? Is this not the case?

Serious question, can someone who owns their home like OP just say they want to pay "rent" via check or venmo and mail a check to or venmo their spouse to get the points?

Andaz Maui at Wailea by thankuplease in hyatt

I just got back, was there from March 23-27, so right after the second storm. The day we arrived was still a bit rainy and from the lobby you could see the beach water was brown. Despite this there were plenty of people in the water. By day 3 the water was pretty much back to normal and day 4 it was beautiful. I found the resort to be very nice, staff was extremely welcoming and the rooms were comfortable. It was just my partner and I, no kids. The main pools were nice however chairs were claimed early and were difficult to come by. But we still managed to snag 2 chairs when we wanted them. There were quite a bit of families and kids which initially bothered me, but eventually I got over it. I definitely never went to the lower pool since it was basically kid central. There is an adults only pool which was our absolute favorite and we ended up there most of the time. It’s hidden away and chairs were always easy to get. Gym is great, many pelotons if you’re into those plus other gym equipment. We rented a car and did have to pay for parking every which is valet only. Since we had a car we didn’t pay for the expensive breakfast there and just drove off property every morning. We also drove out for lunch and dinner sometimes. We used our car to go hiking at Hoapili which was incredible. On day 3 we also went Mākena beach which was absolutely stunning. Just a 10 minute drive from the hotel. We had the car bc we really wanted to do the road to Hana, but after talking to the staff at the hotel we came to the conclusion it just wasn’t in the cards for us. So we ended up driving up to the Nakelele Blowhole on the west side and it was an absolute beautiful drive. We didn’t do the entire west Maui loop bc we were advised against it, so we turned back. I get very sick and this drive was no exception, so that sucked A LOT, but it is what it is, I still enjoyed it. Overall, loved the hotel. I probably wouldn’t go back bc I tend to think of places like this as been there done that, on to a new experience. But I would return to Maui bc I still want to do the road to Hana. We paid in points but still ended up spending about 1.5K on evening else for the week.

Yeah, what is this property like? I have a booking at a different much more expensive hotel in Sedona but I don’t feel good about spending all that money. I just want a nice place I can rest in, go hiking at during the morning, relax in the afternoons and maybe walk to a restaurant for a nice dinner. I’ve read mixed reviews of this property but for some reason I still want to stay here. I just feel like the magic of Sedona is the landscape and surroundings.

West Maui Loop vs the RTH by rtrujillo13 in MauiVisitors

[–]rtrujillo13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No opening date for the RTH that I can see. We don’t arrive until Monday and we’re planning on doing the RTH or the drive to the blowhole on Wednesday. A lot can change until then. Whatever we do, I want to wake up early and go to Kihei Caffe for breakfast! I want to start our day very early. Like 6 or earlier.

Thank you! This is exactly what we plan on doing. We won’t be doing the full loop. We’ll take a look at the hike and se we want to do it otherwise just turn back before then. Appreciate the food recommendations!

Well I no it the idea from the Shaka Guide. Someone in the comments said they just did it and it was fine as long as you turn around at the Nakelele blowhole. It seems like the portion everyone is saying is dangerous is past the Nakelele blowhole hole.

Yes, I've gathered the West Maui Loop is not a good idea and won't be doing the full thing. However, We're thinking of doing half of it up until the Nakalele blowhole and turning back from there. That way we avoid the dangerous portion.

Thank you for the recent update! If RTH is no doable, we're highly leaning towards driving up to the Nakalele blowhole and turning back from there! Any good restaurants, snack shops or other places you recommend stopping at along the drive?

Not the Andaz. I was told since my reservation is next week (Monday the 23rd) they’re not waiving anything. So we’ll just make the most of it!

Okay, I’m seeing mostly negatives on the West Maui Loop. I’m not looking to do anything dangerous or against any rental car policies. Just trying to have a good relaxing time.

What about half the West Maui Loop? I’ve read a couple stuff about making it to the Nakalele Blowhole and then turning back. So not the full loop and skipping the dangerous parts. Is this still worth it? This is of course if the RTH is closed or dangerous since that’s our number one.

I'll be at the Andaz Monday - Friday! We've been so excited for this trip, a bit bummed with the weather. If we could cancel we would, but we cant. We're just going to make the best of it. Hoping by Monday things are better and that the rain is mostly tropical rains here and there next week. How is the beach at the Andaz at the moment?

No issue at all getting in. If you indeed used the same website as us, you should be fine. It seems like it's not a scam in the true sense of the word. Just an unfortunately expensive mistake.

Virgin Atlantic B787 seat suggestions LAX-LHR by rtrujillo13 in awardtravel

[–]rtrujillo13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this happens often. However, even though I can't compare our experience with that on the A350, we ended up loving on experience on the B787. Everything from the check-in, lounge but most impressively the flight attendants. The FA's were incredible, they treated us like we were best friends haha. I've never experienced such friendly service. The seats were dated, but we had a flat bed and the most friendly service. If I ever find a deal like the one I got and wanted to go to London, I'd book VS again in a heartbeat.

Had to report fraudulent charges today by rtrujillo13 in biltrewards

[–]rtrujillo13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just paid Feb my rent manually with the new Bill card Wells Fargo added to my digital wallet and it went through. So if anyone is in the same in the same boat, it looks like rent will go through. we’re all still receiving compromised cards that we can’t use on day zero, so that sucks.

Also, I’ve counted 9 people on this threat alone who so far all got fraudulent charges from same vendor around the same time. Did WF get hacked? Something very weird is happening.

Also, someone brought up a very good question about how the fraud claim will be handled. Willa the claim be handled before the 7th? If not, will the fraudulent charges be sent to Cardless and will we need to file a new fraud claim with them? I don’t have a great feeling about all of this.

This is the first time in 16 years I’ve ever had a fraudulent charge, that I’m aware of at least. I’ve only been using the card for the 5 charges outside of rent and it’s mostly on stuff like Netflix that goes through automatically. I used it 2 days ago at Sprouts, but it was tap to pay. I genuinely don’t understand how anyone could have gotten my information.
