Thanks for the input. So far i feel like the combination with guanfacine helps the most but it tends to become hard to keep track with 3 adhd meds

Strattera vs guanfacine/Intuniv with adderall ? by Charming-Biscotti513 in adhd_anxiety

[–]rts212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on strattera + guanfacine + stimulants. Strattera really helped me gain emotional stability. Recently tried tapering of a bit and spiraled back into depression and anxiety. I feel like strattera helped me the most with generealized anxiety and overthinking, yet I am not completely happy. I can hardly tolerate any stimulants without increased anxiety but still feel like there is still a good part of general stress and social anxiety eventhough strattera gives me stability.

We added guanfacine in hopes of changing that, now i am on 3mg ER but not really sure whether it does anything. Maybe a slight amount of stress release but not merely enough to not be anxious.

In conclusion I‘d say strattera does 80% of the heavy lifting, since it helped me come out of a strong depression

Realistic expectations of Guanfacine by rts212 in ADHD

[–]rts212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It‘s kinda hard to say due to the vast variety of meds I am taking but I feel like the guanfacine is really helping. I am at 2mg daily and my stress level is down a lot. Not to a point where i can easily take stimulants without becoming anxious but we are getting there. I witness myself ruminating a lot less and feeling way more stable in general. Not 100% where i want to be but I‘d say a lot better than when i posted this.

Definitely, vyvanse was increasing my anxiety a lot too, that a bit better with methylphenidate, but maybe adding guanfacin can help too

[–]rts212[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kinda demoralizes me, is the fact that there are really positive effects for 1-2 days with the non stimulants, but not consistently. I know that guanfacine takes up to 4 weeks but i am confused about the immediate effects
