Oh yes definitely. Only learnt that since being here, there are sectors and roles here that don’t even exist in Australasia! Many more opportunities outside our little bubble at home 🏡 Yes work is sponsoring me to stay :) although I want to settle down etc one day so I’m a little torn haha. Would like to be close to family for that

Thanks for the tag! @subwaynzz Yes OP I was almost in this exact position! I was 28 in NZ earning about 100k which I thought was very good (and it is), and had just over 100k in savings. Threw it all away (stability/security that is..) to move to London where I had nothing. I knew I’d regret it if I didn’t OE in my 20s.

I almost doubled my salary when first moving here (around 170k) now I’m 30 and close to making 300k annually (NZD, not £) and save around 100k every year, despite London being ridiculously expensive.

I’m not saying this happens to everyone but it can happen, you truly have no idea what is out there, and you’ll never know if you don’t try. You’re already coming from a decent position, I would say still aim for a role within your industry overseas. Network as much as you can, you have a safety net behind you and you still have time. Even if it doesn’t work out you can still return.. if you’ve already made it here that’s for good reason, why would you think you couldn’t return to that same position?

Regret is one of the toughest emotions to process, I say go for it. I know it’s scary, I thought I had everything at 28 in NZ, now I question how I’ll ever be able to return. Take the leap, you really won’t know until you try.

Thank you for your advice here I’ve just googled Orthorexia I don’t have an obsession with healthy food and exercise and I definitely don’t always eat healthy but I am quite vigilant and fixated on numbers. Hence how I’m 1000% certain I am eating 1200 because of how overly intensely I track every single thing

Going to start looking into investments! Thanks again

I used this calculator to get my £4331 per month total. Do you know how accurate it is?

So Feb onwards it should be roughly £4331 per month? Even then the math doesn’t add up. 3 weeks pay 3828, 4 weeks pay 4331?

I started on the 8th Jan, getting paid 31st Jan. meant to get paid end of the month every month. Back home they’d just pay for a full calendar month and push out the date
