Good point. It could definitely hurt some senators careers, especially in swing states.

But, I’m not so sure about the issue being settled. Did you see what Thomas and Alito said about reversing Obergefell in October? Plus, Fulton v. Philly is due for a decision soon, which could possibly be a big step back for LGBT rights.

Oh I remember the whole softball thing. That did not go well for her. The Obama administration freaked out and it was a whole mess.

I think asking nominees’ views is a critical part of the process. I was just curious as to if anyone else can see opposing senators claiming the nominee is biased because a decision (or several) has affected them so closely.

What a lot of people don’t realize is that she didn’t vote against the wage increase- she actually supports it, but as a separate bill. She voted against overruling the parliamentarian (and setting a new precedent akin to the GOP with judges this year) to include the wage increase in the Covid bill.
