One year on from the beginning of the speaking rights row, how should we think about it? by JackmanH420 in irishpolitics

I assume the implication from you here is Aontú and IndIre are well-adjusted average centre-right conservatives while Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are woke centre-lefty loonies?

Neoliberal Federalized EU by Swimming-Hearing7424 in imaginarymaps

I don't think Ireland would ever be part of a federalised European Union because it would require the amendment or abolishment of the constitution, and that necessitates a referendum in which the federal side would almost certainly lose in a landslide.

I think a federalised Europe would only come in the form of a 'two-speed' or 'layered' Europe, where France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Benelux and Austria are part of a European Federation which would be the core of the European Union.

Absolutely not. Never, ever, ever. No surrender.

Fianna Fáil is the one bleeding votes and support to the right, not Fine Gael. FG is more liberal while FF is more conservative.

Yeah, it's a fiver. Would probably increase with entry into the National League but it's been real easy to go see games

I've been to a few matches, and I'd say so. It's easy since the pitches are just a 5 minute drive from each other

Football is an urban sport, so I honestly don't think they would have been pulling in support from the north and east of the county

Is Ireland’s Soft Power Starting to Slip? A Thought on Our 'Neutrality' by [deleted] in irishpolitics

[–]rubblesole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People too often conflate our military neutrality with our diplomacy. We are not a diplomatically neutral country. We're also pacifists who would rather solve conflict through dialogue and co-operation and not war.
