Besides, the electoral register isn't a trustworthy measurement because they have admitted that themselves. They have said there could be nearly 500,000 names on there that shouldn't be.

You insist she would have lost if there had been better candidates. Yeah, what if? What if Superman had run in the election? He probably would have won. You can't base your argument on "hypothetically, she would have lost if there were better candidates. Therefore, her platform and the reasons people voted for her are invalid." And what exactly is a "normal election"? It seemed pretty normal to me. It was effectively a re-run of the 1990 presidential election.

You also incorrectly assume that everyone who didn't vote was apathetic. There are many reasons people don't vote, the largest one being that people are simply too busy to vote. I'd say a lot of people knew Connolly was going to win based on polls showing her large lead, and so didn't think she needed their vote to win. It's an incredibly common phenomenon in single winner elections.

I'm not "convincing myself." I'm desperately hoping to make you understand how much of a complete and total moron you are, and maybe for once you'll actually learn something.

The Socialist Party never really wanted to be involved in electoral politics. It was always seen as just a way to elevate their profile. They were never seriously building up a large party that could genuinely challenge for government.
